Ideas for wedding outfit

I'm going to a wedding in early May and finding it hard to decide what to wear. What do you think about a pair of wide leg black trousers and a nice top? Or should I wear a dress? Would love to hear your ideas.

Dresses aren't de rigeur at weddings; a nice trousers-and-top combo is modern and can look just as dressy.

I wouldn't go for black trousers ? I find black trousers/skirt and a coloured top rather boring and 'worky'. Unless you went for a black trouser suit, in which case I think you'd need lightweight materials and/or a bit of flashed flesh, perhaps in the form of some sheer/lace elements, to stop it looking too heavy and glam it up.

Or how about nude/cream/camel/whatever it's called at the moment trousers and a nice top in a bright colour or a print? I think lightish slinky trouser material would be best, and as wide as you feel comfortable in. Should be good-quality material that sort of falls and slinks rather than being stiff or billowing too much.
