Can a not pregnant person pull off this maternity dress?

I've found a lovely dress, but it's a maternity one and I'm definitely not pregnant, but I love it and it's not available through the main line...

Can I get away with it? If I wore my Spanx and made sure I was as flat as possible at the front would it look good, or would it just not be a good idea? It's for a wedding, so I don't really want to spend the day telling people I'm not expecting. What do you reckon?

I would imagine the cut of the fabric will make it hang wrong if there's no bump there.

Actually, looking at it you can see the band under the bust is a dead giveaway. On a regular dress it wouldn't be so high. Oh what a shame, it's gorgeous.

Does this appeal:

That's a very pretty dress. I think you'd have to try it on, but if there is space for a bump then there will be to much fabric at the front

womma · 12/04/2011 09:06

Thanks Saggy, there's some lovely dresses on there and that one's quite similar - I will investigate.

I just love that one. I think I should try it on and see, and at least I wouldn't have to hold my stomach in if I was wearing it!

The fabric and shape is so lovely. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

whoneedssleepanyway · 12/04/2011 13:48

how about thisone from monsoon

if it was jersey I would say fine but it is structured so surely there is going to be a load of excess materialy at the front to accomodate the bump that will just hang...it is a gorgeous dress though, shame they don't do it in the main line...

womma · 12/04/2011 20:08

Thing is, I've got quite a big bum which would take up some of the slack from the front....

I should order it online and try it on. I am smitten with the gorgeousness of it.
