After exhaustive research I bought this in the washed black colour. it goes with everything and looks lovely.

I like the Toast one Higgle linked too but am waiting to see if it goes in the sale.

I bought this from Zara in navy as a compromise.

they're both nice, thanks. wanted something slightly more casual though, that can fasten up as I live in Scotland and it's still chilly!

tulpe - I know it will go in the sale, probably before I've worn it at all, but my brain was so obsessed with "summer jacket" I was at risk of becoming seriously deranged if I didn't buy one.
