I will be on my feet (quite literally) all day next Sunday as watching DH run the London marathon. I don't 'do' trainers, i normally wear heels or ballet flats but I think I need something more substantial to support my feet for that amount of time. However I am 28 and I don't want to look like I've borrowed my Mum's shoes for the day.

I'll either be wearing jeans or a denim skirt on my bottom half depending how warm it is- what do you think? Also does anyone have them and are they comfy?

TIA

I like them - trainers without looking like clumpy running trainers.

Aworryingtrend · 11/04/2011 15:18

Thanks Berri- thats exactly what I wanted. Hope they are comfortable too!

Those are fine, I have owned a number of Sketchers bikers trainers over the years and they are very comfy and look fine.

Dinner lady shoes

Sorry, you did ask.

Aworryingtrend · 11/04/2011 15:24

Oh nooo Lovely! Thing is i secretly fear you are right. But having scoured the high street at the weekend at the internet today I am fast running out of options. I have oodles of ballet flats and they just won't give me enough support for that length of time and I don't want to wear actual trainers as they would look odd. And its too hot for boots. Argh!!

I had a similar pair last year from Next. I think they looked ok, BUT they honked after a few wears with no socks.

It may just be that i have stinky feet though Grin

CrispyTheCrisp · 11/04/2011 15:27

Personally i would wear my Birkenstocks for that type of thing as long as it's not freezing

Aworryingtrend · 11/04/2011 15:27

Crispy we must have the same ishoos- I stocked up on odour Eaters shoe spray yesterday in prepapration for the summer Blush

I did think about more of a flip flop type thing but (and please dont laugh at me) I have this wierd phobia of losing a shoe on the tube. I panic that it would just fall off my foot and then I would be hobbling around shoeless the whole day. I realise that this is an odd phobia, and not one I would admit to in RL. can you tell I don't get to london much?!

PMSL Worrying - you could affix a nice piece of elastic to them and tie them on Grin

Tbf, i don't normally get smelly feet which is why i mentioned it more than anything as i think it was the material/style more than anything

these get good reviews and have the bonus of the elastic already attached Wink

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 11/04/2011 16:17

Sorry but they are not nice!

I think getting new shoes now may be a mistake anyway, what if they give you blistersConfused

Just where the most comfy shoes in your wardrobe. There will be lumps like me loads of sweaty people walking around wearing too much lycra, no-one will notice your footwearWink

LovelyDaffs · 11/04/2011 19:59

I wholeheartedly recommend fitflops - I bought some recently and they are the most comfiest shoes ever. They do them in a clog, trainer and boot style as well as flipflop.

Honest you won't regret it.

Sanesometimes1 · 11/04/2011 20:30

Would also agree with doyouthink, new shoes for a day when you know you;ll be on your feet all day is just a disaster waiting to happen, just put on your comfiest ballet flats.

berri · 11/04/2011 22:54

I bought those Clarks ones a few weeks ago and have worn them every day since, loads of walking, and not a blister in sight. They are the comfiest shoes I've ever bought.

Might even get another pair to keep as a spare!

I bought them in white...

Aworryingtrend · 12/04/2011 08:08

Thanks everyone for not laughing at my craziness - I love those Clarks ones! So much colour choice as well. Hmm that is a good point about wearing new shoes though- although I would wear them in first but I do know what you mean. I was supposed tohave sorted all this ages ago, grr. Might go to town today and try the Clarks ones on. Thanks!

OP I think I agree that wearing new shoes all day is a bad idea...

Ps they have a special long handled pincer thing to retrieve shoes that fall on the track I have seen it happen several times!
