merrell jackets - any good?

I'm thinking of getting a waterproof jacket while sales are on, and am looking at Merrell - but I have no idea whether they are actually any good, performance-wise. Has anyone had a Merrell jacket and have they kept nice and dry wearing it in torrential rain bad weather?

Thinking of this Aberdeen jacket, or Urbaine...

Don't know about the quality but, really like the first jacket. I bought a Musto some years ago and it's excellent quality if a little unstylish!

If it says waterproof it should be. Merrell do make outdoor stuff so I should think it's properly waterproof. Is it for walking the dog or going up mountains?

I think I'd mainly wear it out and about with the kids, possibly walking hills but more likely in the park. So yes, a bit like walking the dog... but no hands free for an umbrella, hence wanting waterproof... I picked up a lovely Monsoon parka from charity shop and got drenched the first time I wore it so I'm very Hmm about getting fashion coats/jackets now!

Well I went to Cotswold Outdoor who stock the Aberdeen jacket but I hadn't appreciated that the jacket was padded - it looks OK, but is too warm for anything other than late autumn through to early spring. And I already have a coat I wear all the time in winter; I need something for a Scottish summer.

So it's back to the drawing board... sigh.

Hi,
I bought the Merrell Wakfield (after a big thread on this board, something about bum covering waterproof jackets) and it is wonderful:

I bought mine from shop on the beach. It has survived the Northern Irish autumn, winter, early spring perfectly.
Gets lots of compliments too.

I also have a Merrell Wakefield and it is utterly waterproof.

I have a Merrell Chelsea - very light, extremely waterproof.

I tried on the Wakefield but it's not one I'd wear over a skirt (or at least it didn't look good when I tried it on yesterday). I guess I'll save the money and wait to see what comes along later in the year - unless my old Sprayway jacket dies sooner than that!

I can definetly recomment Merrell coats. I got the Isadore for the winter and was never once cold and definetly snow/rain proof. I am now wearing the Wakefield - love it and again so waterproof!
