Are Birkies Birkenstock sandals?

Please help me wise women.

I have seen a pair of sandals with "Birkis" written on them. Are they made by Birkenstock? or are they completely seperate?
They are white with 2 adjustable straps.
I have tried them on and they seem very comfy.
I am wanting some comfortable sandals as sick of having sore feet through buying cheap/uncomfy sandal/shoes.

My dh says they look good, but dd (14) says they are ridiculous and made me look like "a right Granny".

Please help.

Yep indeedy, they're Birkenstock.

They're very comfortable, but completely non-stylish I fear. They're excellent for everyday summer wear.

I that case I think I will buy them.

Like dh says dd is not going to like the same things as me and I would look a sight if we wore the same shoes/clothes.

I got the Gizeh style a couple of years ago from Schuh - surely that means they're reasonably cool...?
