I've lost my way ... can anyone help me get back on the straight and narrow?

I really need to update my wardrobe for spring/summer but don't know where to start! My main problem is my figure and not knowing what would suit me any more! Want to order on-line, I think, as shopping would involve 2 hr trip to nearest big town and 4 kiddies in tow - not a good mix Hmm.

Okay ... I'm 43, 5'7" and an 8/10. I've horribly skinny slender legs and a very wobbly tummy! The tummy is my main problem as I simply don't know what shape of trousers would be best. I want to get away from jeans but need something casual in their place ... and my tummy needs to be held in! I also need footwear but am a horned hoofer and my toe nails are in terrible shape with a fungal infection so they need to be hidden.

Here's what I do have ... quite a few t-shirts (plain and striped), one blouse (brown-ish print from Boden last year), one dark grey boyfriend cardigan which I lived in last summer but it needs some friends Grin, one pair of Gap real straight jeans with another on order. I tend to put my James/Seven skinny jeans away for the summer as with my legs they only look good with boots. I've got a pair of Gap casual beige trousers from last year but they're an awful shape so they're for out. Footwear-wise, one pair of blue ballet flats - not comfy for lots of walking but okay to slip on and off.

So where do I start? I don't like Next - their clothes simply do not suit my shape but am happy to try anywhere else. Budget wise ... I'm not going to think about that at the moment - I just want nice, well-fitting clothes! Don't really do skirts/dresses in the summer but we are off to London for a week with a trip to Wimbledon included so I do want to get something for Wimbledon and also a couple of outfits which will be nice for our week away!

Does anyone feel like helping! Thanks! Smile

No idea about the clothes I'm afraid, but have you been to see anyone about your feet? DH had DISGUSTING feet for years - he lived in a stinky house with 3 other stinky boys & even they wouldn't allow him to take his shoes off as his feet smelt so bad!

So, he eventually went to the local Scholl shop (I'm sure any kind of foot place would do) and they scraped all the manky stuff off his feet & gave him some anti-fungal cream & he was instantly cured!

Hopefully someone else will be along to give you some wise words about clothes soon - I will be watching with interest as I need help too!

I'd say its all about skinny cargos like these or rolled up chinos like these this year. Ive invested ina pair of each and never feel short of something nice to wear casually. I pair them with these striped tops which I love

Im a fan of Boden lace ups for summer comfy and stylish I think they look cute with the rolled up chinos and stripe top.

These trousers from Zara are a great substitute for jeans. As your tum is a bit wobbly, you will find that these are a good fit: they are very slim on the leg but are a loose fit around the seat/crotch which is very flattering and will accommodate a less than perfect tum without over-spillage.

Zara also have a good range of cotton boyfriend cardis - to make friends with your grey one :)

WRT Wimbledon: go as casual as you like. Maxi & flip flops or chinos & tee would be good options.

Oh and a second vote for those Zara striped tops that Gillybobs linked too: organic cotton, beautifully soft and wash very well indeed without losing shape.

What a morning! Just getting online now - thanks a million for the replies and links. I'm going to order the Uniglo cargos as well as a pair of chinos and so e of those Zara tops. Must have a proper look on Zara and see whether there is anything else I can add to my basket. A new pair of Converse or equivalent shall also be ordered but any other footwear suggestions please?

Bessie - no, haven't had a dr look at my nails for a few years. Think tablets are available but they take a long time to work as the entire nail has to grow out. However, I do have an apt with my GP next week, so shall mention it then - thankfully, they don't smell!! Grin

Okay, if anyone is around, pls keep the ideas rolling! Thanks

love those chinos at Next - was just about to order some when I remembered that I was 39.5wks pg & should probably wait a few weeks to see what size I am before ordering! Grin
