9 year old boys sandals?

What do your boys about this age wear on their feet when it's warm? Has had crocs for last couple of summers but they look cute on small children but not so good on growing feet! Where can i get some nice-ish, cheapish sandals or what else to wear?

At 9 years old mine would not wear sandals.

They prefer trainers and trainer socks.

Yes, I know it is warm and feet sweat but honestly at 9 sandals are a no no.

ChasingSquirrels · 10/04/2011 10:52

my 8.5yo has been wearing these for a number of years. I fully expect him to be wearing them again this year.

ChasingSquirrels · 10/04/2011 10:53

although looking at the sizing they only go up to a 3 so might not fit him any longer, there are some other nice ones on there though.

AnnoyingOrange · 10/04/2011 10:56

mine would wear flip flops or sport sandals if going to the beach, but usually trainers for every day

Dinosaurhunter · 10/04/2011 11:07

Birkenstocks
flip flops

ChippyMinton · 10/04/2011 11:14

converse
crocs for the beach
sports style sandals

CeliaFate · 10/04/2011 12:11

How about these?

hungryallthetime · 10/04/2011 13:06

Thanks so much for suggestions. I also think sandals are a bit geeky for 9 year old boys with size 3 feet, but he has aspergers and just is a bit geeky Smile. He has no interest in clothes whatsoever although I have warned him about the fashion police today Grin. I will have a look for some sports sandals as theres no way I'll get him in flipflops or converse cos of the laces!

Mine both still love sandals - they are 7 and 9 and both have quite small feet. I got DS1 some JackNano sandals at clarks yesterday (he is size 13 1/2). I was trying to get him to choose the more trendy looking ones but he was adamant! They are quite chunky so they don't look too geeky. I just can't bring myself to get them crocs, they are just so ugly!!

ChippyMinton · 10/04/2011 22:52

converse do slip ons that look like the laces are missing. not sure about kids sizes.

Carrotsandcelery · 10/04/2011 22:58

Would something like this have a bit more street cred?

Carrotsandcelery · 10/04/2011 22:59

Ooops! Just realised it says womens even though I searched for boys. Sorry!

Carrotsandcelery · 10/04/2011 23:00

these might be better then

stringbean · 11/04/2011 07:47

My ds is 9.5 and has worn these in the past couple of years. I expect he'll have the same this year, as last year's are now too small.

stringbean · 11/04/2011 07:50

Oh bum, that's a US website, try here.

MikeRotch · 11/04/2011 07:51

9 is the cut off here. Flip flops or trainers

Buda · 11/04/2011 07:55

I think DS will want crocs again this year. He'll be 10 in August.

exoticfruits · 11/04/2011 08:18

I would ask your DS -he will know what he wants.

hungryallthetime · 11/04/2011 14:25

Thanks for some great suggestions - like the Teva ones, think I'll go for them. Could ask him, but as he's not at all bothered what he wears and I am (plus I'm paying!) I'll choose what I like Grin

My DS1 will be 10 in a few weeks and he still loves wearing his crocs too. Think a lot is to do with the lazy factor (just slipping them on).

My DS2 who's 7 had some really nice canvas pumps from Next which look nice in the summer with shorts. They had loads of different ones last year.

exoticfruits · 11/04/2011 15:10

Make the mostof it-he soon will care!

walesblackbird · 11/04/2011 15:14

Mostly Nike trainers but have just ordered him a pair of new crocs - transparent ones which he liked the look of. He chose them himself. Tried flip flops last year and they were a disaster as he just couldn't walk in them.

fyrtlemertile · 11/04/2011 15:59

DH and I wear these as does DS (only 2) but they are very comfy, cool, canvas and slip on and off, no laces, nothing between the toes etc. Quite expensive for what they are but a pair gets donated to a child in Africa for each pair bought? Alternatively primark so their own (lace up) version for about £1?
