Jeans for spring - bootcut still okay?

Hi! I'm a petite size 8, sometimes 10 from the waist down if I've over indulged which I often do... My straight legged jeans look a bit funny with my chunky wedges so I was wondering if I should get a pair of bootcuts so that they sort of cover the sandals nicely? Are bootlegs out or in? Can you recommend any in particular that are flattering to someone short? Even though I'm a size 8 I'm curvy, have a sizeable ass and chunky thighs. I saw the 'sexy bootlegs' in Gap which looked nice but couldn't find my size as they're being discontinued.

Wearing a pair of bootcuts today (after too much time in skinnies and flares) and oh how I love them!

Iloveshoes001 · 08/04/2011 15:59

Bootcuts are definitely still in. One of the most flattering cuts. Personally I swear by Fat Face. They have really nice boot cut jeans in lots of washes.

AllTheGoodOnesAreTaken · 08/04/2011 16:14

Okay, right, nice, DonaAna, what brand?

Yes on bootcuts -- Guardian linked to this Anna Wintour in bootcuts.

higgle · 08/04/2011 16:23

No, Anna is not in bootcuts - see article with picture "She donned a pair of J.Brand $158 skinny jeans with a Proenza tee for a match at the Sony Ericsson Open. "

CointreauVersial · 08/04/2011 16:25

Surely any jeans worn by Anna Wintour would be skinny by definition!

Yes, I think they're still "acceptable", hence why so many shops still sell them.

But make sure they're long enough! Nothing more dated and vile than too-short bootcuts flapping in the breeze.

catladymanquee · 08/04/2011 16:29

Hm. higgle and CointreauVersial are right. Those are not bootcuts. The Guardian said, "There is an alternative for those not seduced by flares yet bored of skinnies: enter Anna Wintour in a rare dressed-down moment at the Sony Ericsson tennis tournament over the weekend. She went with a J Brand bootcut style that meant towering heels were not necessary. That's a denim lifeline right there, that is."

But yet . . . no.

DonaAna · 08/04/2011 16:55

I wear Seven for All Mankind, it's generally cut for the very tall (at 5 ft 8, I'm almost too short), but they do petite sizing. Style du jour I think is skinny bootcut and I think that's what Anna Wintour might be persuaded to try.

I have a pair skinny bootcuts and love them. However, today I wore traditional bootcuts that are looser in the thigh and they are just the most comfortable jeans ever.

AllTheGoodOnesAreTaken · 08/04/2011 16:56

So apart from Fat Face, who makes nice bootcuts that also come short enough and are flattering to full arses?

next ? might get a flaming but their jeans fit me well ! am an 8 in real life but wear their size 6 regular which is 29" leg I think - I'm 5foot 3 and they are just right for me.

ISimplyDontBelieveIT · 08/04/2011 19:41

Next? Really? Hmm....Hmm

AllTheGoodOnesAreTaken · 08/04/2011 19:47

Hmm here for Next too. Do they do jeans for short people anyway??

I have been banging on about next jeans on here before!! Try the Umtimate boot cut or the ultimate flare

VivaLeBeaver · 09/04/2011 09:13

I normally don't like Next jeans but bought a nice pair a few weeks ago that fit well.

paddingtonbear1 · 09/04/2011 09:20

I wear Levis Curve ID. I've got their skinny and straight, but they do bootcut as well. They are the only jeans which fit my legs/bum and don't gape at the waist! According to their chart I was a demi/bold curve but I actually came out with the slight curve as I don't like jeans too high waisted. Mine are short leg, which are still a bit long as I'm only 5 ft. Not cheap but worth the money for me!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 09/04/2011 21:07

Those aren't skinny jeans Anna is wearing, maybe straight leg.
Anyway, I like the Citizens of Humanity Kelly jeans which are the bootcut ones that they do.

franke · 09/04/2011 21:13

I've had a couple of pairs of nice bootcuts from, ahem, H&M. My last pair were a really nice dark denim. I figured I'd go cheap because of all the crawling around on the floor I do (small kiddies), so knees don't last whether they cost ?40 or ?100. Anyway my last pair have done me 3 years. Oh and I have quite chunky thighs. I think the style I go for is called Loyal.
