Hello,

I'm getting married in 4 and a bit weeks time. This has been a bit of a whirlwind romance, and all my holiday stuff is old, and based around girly holidays.

I want to buy a capsule wardrobe that'll get me through 2 weeks in Mauritius (lucky me), and be some bits and pieces I can use back home in the lovely english sun!

I'm 37, 5ft tall and a size 8.

So... help, help, help!!!!

what do I need to take? and pick me some lovely things I can buy online!

Thanks lovelies! xx

Congratulations! What's your budget and colouring and shape? Boobs or not?

Karbea · 07/04/2011 22:46

Thank you!

I guess I wouldn't really want to spend more than about £1000 for the whole lot.
I'm blonde, blue eyes, kinda yellowy skin (I think i'm an Autumn colour wise...Confused)
i don't know what shape I am, boobs are 30dd... xx

Karbea I am thinking, honestly! Just at work at the mo but will post ideas when I'm back at the ranch.

Grrr, just lost a huge post. I will try to do it again but obviously it's not going to be as fabulously witty as my first effort. You will need to use your imagination!

Must first register enormous jealousy (a) at honeymoon in Maldives Envy and (b) size 8 Envy. Lucky thing! Grin I have gone for a soft/neutral palette as I think that is probably good for your colouring? Might have spent a bit too much when I got carried away...

I would take:

Swimwear

Assuming flat tummy (Envy) and perky boobs (Envy Envy) a few fab bikinis. I like this Heidi Klein number and it's in the sale.

Or a lovely swimsuit: Anthropologie one-piece

To and from the beach

A kaftan or two (but I don't find them particularly useful in the UK, so maybe not two...). Like:

Reiss kaftan - good colour on an Autumn palette.

FC kaftan

And a cardie like this one from Anthropologie for slinging on, on top of your bikini.

Separates

An easy pair of shorts. I have these and you will probably need to size down, they are generous but very easy to wear.

Classic linen trews like these from the White Company. Use SPG10 for 20% off. It would be worth having them shortened before you go. To be worn with simple vest tops and long necklaces.

A breton to go with trews and shorts, something like this from Monsoon.

Dresses

I live in dresses on hols, so tend to overpack on this front but I think you'll need at least a couple assuming you plan to leave the bedroom Wink.

This FC maxidress is pretty.

This blue IO dress is sexy and would look great with a tan. Needs the belt though.

And this is pretty as a picture. Again needs a belt, as styled in some of the MW pictures.

Accessories

Other than what you wear in the airport, I'd go for a pair of neutral wedges and a pair of flat sandals. Like:

These pretty Sam Edelman flats

and

Mint Velvet wedges.

Am going to run now before DS deletes I lose this post too.

Have fun!

I would buy some swimwear you are comfortable in (3 x bikini/tankini/swimsuit), if possible get mix and match tops and bottoms, as that is what you will live in. Two nice sarongs that you can wear walking to and from the pool/beach.

Then a couple of casual outfits/dresses/shorts combos and a couple of nice dresses.

Two pairs of flip flops and a pair of nice shoes.

T K Maxx is brill for this kind of thing Wink

Great links from Oooh.

this dress is lovely and would work well abroad and in the UK.

this would be a good day dress, and then could be dressed up for night time.

Can't link to it, but there are some lovely things on the Melissa Odabash site too.

Great links on this thread!

Oooh, I want you as my stylist and personal shopper please?

Wideawake, I have the Whistles dress and I love it! How would you style it though? I want the stripy dress now too...

Have a great honeymoon, OP

wideawakenurse · 18/04/2011 21:55

blue - I would go with tan accessories, maybe Hasbeen style clogs for day wear, and then maybe something like these for evenings - which I have.

Or you could go with navy, would look great with a navy blazer with rolled up sleeves, and espadrilles.

blue2711 · 18/04/2011 23:39

Thanks, wide-awake. Have a thin tan belt and sandals already which will work well. Like those dune ones though. Navy a great idea too, have a shrunken navy blazer from years ago I will dig out and try. Do you think a denim jacket might work for day? I am v nesh! The jacket is v slim fit and light ish, from Topshop a few years ago.
