Warning, contains pictures that commit hideous fashion crimes!

It makes me ashamed to be from the north west. How can someone leave the house looking like this?

ooh! I LOVE a good gawp at the Ladies Day

However it cannot be denied we are in the midst of an obesity crisis, and that maxi dresses should be banned

thebestisyettocome · 07/04/2011 16:08

I feel your pain apple99 being from that part of the world as well. I honestly don't know what to say Shock Sad

apple99 · 07/04/2011 16:14

I am often in Liverpool and it's not just the clothes but the make-up, hair colour and eyebrows are so harsh looking.

Another thing I see a lot is women/girls walking around the city centre with huge rollers in their hair, what is that all about?

That's 3 times this DM article has been linked to today - a record even for them!!

turtleduck · 07/04/2011 17:28

why do all they all look so aggressive? Are they not happy to be there?

noddyholder · 07/04/2011 17:31

Its all there maxi primark fascinator Lots of them look like peter kay in drag

southeastastra · 07/04/2011 17:32

they've all had at least three special brews and they're starting to kick in, hence the aggressive look

dickcheeseandthecrackers · 07/04/2011 17:37

I think they've backed off on the spray tans a bit. Must be the economic downturn.

ninah · 07/04/2011 17:37

the best bit for me is the look on the face of the WPC holding on to the stripper in the middle of the pic

noddyholder · 07/04/2011 17:44

No they have laid off the fake tan because pale is in and its more classier

thomasbodley · 07/04/2011 17:47

These pics come out in the Mail every year. I've been to the National and these girls are very much in the minority - they just dominate the pictures in the press.

York Races attract the same crowd but somehow doesn't make the news to the same extent - perhaps because it's 4 hours rather than 2 for the national press Hmm

Liverpool is quite manky style-wise though - there's a very bling culture, always has been according to my parents. (I grew up nearby, though there's a gaping chasm between the city and rural Cheshire). I blame Colleen McLoughlin and Alex Curran.

thomasbodley · 07/04/2011 17:48

Oh yes, and before Alex Curran, there was Cilla Black. Wink

I am from Liverpool but HATE the fake tan/thick eyebrows/massive hair obsession. Lots of clones, and the attitudes to go with it.
I know a few who are going tomorrow and they have said they probably won't even have a bet. It's ALL about what you look like. I don't really get it.

In those pics though, the knee-length camel dress with brown belt is to die for. I'd choose something like that for the Races.

cyrilsneer · 08/04/2011 08:20

I like that camel dress with the skinny tan belt too - and great pair of shoes too, with the thick cork heel.
