I'm 40, size 10-12, about 5'6 with dark hair. What should I buy for the (hopefully!) warmer weather?

What is your budget, Celia?

CeliaFate · 07/04/2011 09:52

Hmm, haven't got a total budget, but kind of Mango/Zara/French Connection/Gap prices! Smile

I'm 37, also size 10-12. 5'4", apple-y, 30FF boobs.

I'll be wearing most of the stuff I already have (try not to have separate seasonal clothes, I mostly layer).

To refresh things, this weekend I bought a denim jacket, a pair of cropped chinos, and a couple of maxi dresses which I plan to wear with wedges. Also two silk crazy tunic-type things from All Saints which I'll wear over the top of my 'uniform' of skinny jeans and white vest.

I'm not one for trends as a rule, but I am on the lookout for an orange silk top and a big yellow bag (not to wear together).

Bump. Anyone? (hopeful) Smile

How about some nice white jeans to start with.

CeliaFate · 07/04/2011 14:50

I'm not pristine enough for white jeans! Grin

Coloured jeans? I saw tons in the shops, though I'll be sticking my old white ones in the machine with a box of dark purple Dylon.

With your height you could do flares, which are being plugged in the glossies and style cyberspace like there's no tomorrow, but are sadly forbidden for us shortarses. The last word in chic are Made in Heaven's indigo flares, apparently.

I have gone for one nice skirt, a pair of knee length denim shorts, 3 vest tops, one pretty floaty top, one summer dress, a pair of linen trousers and a denim jacket. Should cover me for the spring weather :)

Hard to know what would suit you without knowing your body shape and height....

nikki1978 · 07/04/2011 14:57

Oh and a nice cardy of course :)

orangina · 07/04/2011 15:00

Can anyone point me towards a nice demin jacket? I saw a picture of Jools Oliver looking cool (and obviously v tall and skinny...!) in one recently.....

CeliaFate · 07/04/2011 15:42

No I meant are you an apple, pear, hour glass etc?

Nice denim jackets in Oasis orangina:)

CeliaFate · 07/04/2011 15:53

Oh! I see, sorry. Hmm, dunno really. I've got thin arms and legs, small boobs. I'm not confident about my tum as it's a bit pouchy after 2 dc. I don't do sleeveless! I think my bum's my best feature - it's round and pert Grin

Thanks Nikki, will look out for them.....!

I'd say rolled up chinos are the must have trouser this summer. I have bought a nice neutral colour pair but have also seen lovely khaki ones and another pair in a soft orange (yes, really). Or there are nice navy ones around too. They look great with stirpy long sleeve tops now and can witch to vest tops wen its warmer.

Also think a maxi skirt is a great option, not too chilly for less warm days , looks great with a denim jacket, no need to shave legs!

Aknee length dnim skirt is always hndy, wear with leggings and ballet pumps now and with flipflops later.

A previous poster also mentioned layering vest tops, this is somthing I discovered a few years ago and Im now hooked. always have a few white or blac vests to wear underneath more colourful vests. Hides a multitude of lumps
