Need some advice, have bought a purple/violet dress from Coast here

www.coast-stores.com/IRAH-SHIFT-DRESS-/fcp-product/2224720479

It looks blue but it is very purple! I like the red shoes in the picture but don't think that's what I really want for a wedding. I currently have these shoes and bag

I am dithering about whether the pale pink is right? All the ladies in the shop thought they were but......hmmm not 100% sure! Any thoughts would be very welcome. Also any ideas for some sleeves/shrug of some description and should I wear a hat or a fascinator, if so what colour - same as shoes and bag or same as dress?

I'm wearing a blue Vivienne westwood Anglomania dress for a wedding soon, and I was thinking of clashing with animal?

leopard heels

leopard clutch

The dress has no pattern like mine, so you can go a bit mad with accessories imo, the pale pink is a little too safe..Smile

Hmm definately some food for thought here! I am going to take hubby with me to pick up shoes and bag, I have time to change them or not have them at all at the minute - will keep you updated!

Love the leopard print, really lovely -

On all of the choices do you think it makes a difference to know my age Smile I am 41 so just wondering if I am too old or if I should remain conservative!

I was about to suggest animal print too! Infact I wore a navy blue VWA dress with snake-print sandals and clutch to a wedding last summer turtleduck.

turtleduck · 05/04/2011 16:02

spamspamspam I think you can wear animal print at any age, as long as you do it in a classy way....and not a barmaid way, iykwim.

jammietart I am LOVING those shoes/bag...it will really give the outfit some VA VA Voom without being over the top...I am in love with VWA at the moment, seems to suit my body shape and hug in all the right places without looking tarty..Wink

...I thinkGrin

Love your choices (also love the red ones in the coast picture, get them and where that combo somewhere else!)

ramade · 05/04/2011 16:38

If your going to go with the leopard print shoes (also lovely) don't also get the bag (or anything else) in leopard print or you'll end up looking like that woman from Birds Of A Feather.

madammecholet · 05/04/2011 18:07

ramade, I disagree, I think you can have shoes/bag in print, but nothing else. ie you couldn't wear a shirt/belt/skirt/dress with print and then do shoes and bag.

I also think with animal, if you buy cheap stuff, it'll look cheap, always pay more for animal anything and it'll look expensive rather than trashy.

I love your dress spamspamspam..

ramade · 06/04/2011 17:47

Nah too mathcy matchy and has got birds Of A Feather written all over it!

voiceofnoreason · 06/04/2011 19:34

Turtleduck - I have those shoes! Beware, they come up small and annoyingly went in the sale 2 weeks after i bought them. They defo dont look trashy madammecholet Wink

spam - LK benett are out of stock of those scrummy shoes in most sizes according to the website Sad but i know the shops have stock cos i walked past one today with those in the window.

Thanks all, I couldn't find any animal, but I have decided to go for the colour clashing as I think deep down that's what I wanted but was going for the pale pink to be safe. So been on another shopping trip and I am now undecided again I have bought the shoes in red and another bag (which is much smaller than it looks in the photos) from L K Bennett both here:-

www.lkbennett.com/shoes/ss11preview/CCSELINA619PATENT
www.lkbennett.com/bags/ss11preview/BSMAJELLA619PATENT

Also I have bought these shoes in Orange

www.johnlewis.com/188014/Style.aspx

But haven't yet bought a bag but was thinking of this one

www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Jacques+Vert+Pimento+clutch+bag/146764449,default,pd.html?cgid=3041

Any thoughts? Going to keep the orange shoes anyway as they are lovely with black or jeans.
