my hair isn't this long yet,but it is past my shoulders, the longest i've ever had. How do i care for long hair? should i be using lots of oil before i shampoo? I'm managing to wash it every 3rd day, and i let it dry naturally. I do use that moroccan oil and its nice, need to replace soon, is pure argan oil just as good? And what shampoo/conditioner is good for long hair? redken was ok but there must be better.

Also do you think regular trims make it grow or are really needed? they always trim too much off, even though its in good condition.

A regular trim is usually a good idea, however you will know your hair better than anyone on here.

Long hair is different for every person- some find they get a greasy scalp and dry ends- so a leave in conditioner is a good idea. Some dont. Some find that the longer it gets the duller it looks. Some don't.

You don't need a specific shampoo though- you'll find one that works for your hair type but not necessarily for anyone else who has long hair.

I read an article that said long hair should be treated the same as a silk shirt, very very gently. Using finger tips in a clawing motion to rub in shampoo, conditioner etc and never use a hair brush only a comb.

My hair is very like that but different colour. To get that full shaggy effect you need to only use a very little conditioner. I never comb unless doing a deep condition about once or twice a year.I wrap it in a turban to dry and then leave it for the last bit. If I am going out in teh evening I put it in a loose bun when it is nearly dry and leave it like that for a few hours and that keeps it wavy.It is very low maintenance but you do need thick good condition hair or it can look ratty
