I need some:)

Must be large, practical and fabulous!

The room has a bit of duck egg blue here and there but is an otherwise dull beige-fest.

Red maybe?
Or stick will dull blue?

what about going with orange ??

SarkyLady · 02/04/2011 19:00

I'm a bit scared of orange.

Have you seen any fabulous ones?

What's your view in bolsters?

Thanks for not ignoring me btw :)

I'd go for ones with feather inserts, they always last longer and look better IMO. I've bought some from Bliss and Bloom. Brilliant customer service too.

Fecking phone.

I was trying to say thanks.

Nice site but not really my taste. Looking for bold. I think...

John Lewis have nice stuff but there are 32 pages to wade through on my iPhone so won't link Wink I do like those red ones but they might date quickly?

SarkyLady · 02/04/2011 19:37

Thanks.
I couldn't find much at jl. Which surprised me.

I'mnit that bothered if they date. The rest of the room is so dull I'm happy to replace cushions fairly regularly. And my boys usually trash them by building some kind of den with them .

cargo have some nice ones. But if you like the next ones, go for them!

CeliaFate · 02/04/2011 21:19

Dunelm Mill have similar to the Next ones and are cheaper.

takingchances · 03/04/2011 13:33

Dark chocolate brown looks good with duck egg blue. I would get huge ones in a gorgeous texture.

Then you could sort of tie it all together with something like [http://www.johnlewis.com/170847/Style.aspx these]

takingchances · 03/04/2011 13:34

Link did not work. (Hits self on head.) I'll try again...these

thomasbodley · 03/04/2011 15:47

I clicked on that Bliss and Bloom link that Celia posted and it said they were closed until 18th April. Erm, that's not what I call "brilliant customer service".

Risible amateurism or "silly women playing at shops" is what I'd call it.

thomasbodley · 03/04/2011 15:51

*Sarkylady" - choose some fabric that you absolutely adore (from a market, a fabric shop or even somewhere super-swish like the Chelsea Design Centre) and then have it made up into cushion covers by your drycleaner.

It's more expensive than buying something off the shelf, but not much more expensive, and you'll end up with something unique to you and your taste.

SarkyLady · 03/04/2011 16:07

tc. Those are lovely. Very different from what I thought I wanted. But I really really like them.
I have a huge chocolate coloured rug so would tie in well. All I need is the huge brown cushions...

At your service Sarky!! Looked on JL and didn't see any nice brown cushions. They were all cheapy-looking.

This is not bad, not sure what size it is though: brown cushion

Thing with brown cushions is that there is a lot of chenille and pleather out there which are VILE. So you need ones with a nice texture or finish

SarkyLady · 03/04/2011 17:22

Dh doesn't like them. He likes the red ones.

But he doesn't really get a vote so that doesn't matter :)

Can't find nice plain ones. Yet.

Oh my holy Jesus. Don't mind him, men have no vision. They are afraid of anything that looks different. Mine was terrified of our new bedroom wallpaper when I brought home a sample but now that it's up and I have done nice co-ordinating throw etc he likes it.

SarkyLady · 03/04/2011 17:26

No. He likes the red ones because they are different. Our current dull ones are cream/brown.

Tbh if I bough the jl ones he'd prob not notice them for about a month.

takingchances · 03/04/2011 17:29

What colour is your carpet and what about your walls?

SarkyLady · 03/04/2011 17:31

Cream Walls.
Cream curtains.
Cream lamp shades.

Horrid mid-brown cheap wood floor.
Lovely fluffy chocolate rug.

Chocolate/duck egg pictures.

Beige sofas.

OP posts:
takingchances · 03/04/2011 17:36

Sounds like ours. We have cream walls, beigey blinds, cream sofas and a light-coloured carpet.
I have dark red cushions (2 plain, 2 stripey) and a huge canvas print with a lady in a red dress in it and always bright flowers. And a burgundy trunk we got as a wedding present that is really nice and handy for storing stuff.

You could go any colour really couldn't you? But duck egg is such a nice colour, would be nice to build off that rather than going off on a red tangent. I would dial up the duck-egg and put a bit more brown in.

Thanks for those links.

I think that tc has convinced me with the jl ones. But eBay is a good idea for some plain ones.
