70s fancy dress

Before I go and trawl the shops I just wondered if anyone had seen anything on the high street that might be good for a 70s fancy dress hen night.

I am thinking bright, patterned, flowy tops that I might actually wear again - so dont mind spending a bit of cash on - and some cheap platform-y shoes that I probably wont. Oh and some tacky accessories.

Will be teaming with either a giant afro wig or a long hippy-style (and possibly coloured) wig depending on the outfit and I already have some white trousers that I could probably adapt into novelty flares with a bit of help from my Mum.

I am 5'4" and about a 16 and nothing too revealing! Dont really want to do a maxi dress - unless its really psychadelic. We are out on the town and so shoes need to be relatively comfy if possible.

Inspire me please!!

Going to the High Street is like getting lost in the 70s at the moment. H&M and River Island are particular offenders. There are certainly plenty of flowy floral tops and crochetted waistcoats, which would look great with your novelty flares.

Don't forget the fringed shoulder bag either.

Oooooh River Island is good! Thank you.
I love the black flowery catsuit - wonder if I can lose 2 stone in 4 weeks?!!!!
Have seen a lovely purple suede fringe bag on ebay which I would use again - so am thinking purple could be the way to go.
