Tinted Moisturiser?

RedwingWinter · 31/03/2011 17:30

I am thinking of trying a tinted moisturiser, can anyone recommend a good one? Is the Laura Mercier one a good bet?

I have very pale skin, and also very sensitive skin, so I need something that will come in a pale enough shade and won't bring me out in a rash. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Yes, I think LM is excellent - the best, though Bobbi Brown and Becca also very good. I can't comment on how they affect sensitive skin, though.

For a cheaper option, you could try No7. I tried Origins first, and can't see much difference (except ££s) between the two.

Benefit You Rebel is excellent, nice light coverage.

I've just bought the Laura Mercier one for my kit but am trying it out myself too. It's really lovely. It gives just enough coverage to make your skin look great but is still light enough to leave you looking really fresh and un made up. It also comes in a really pale shade - Ivory. I am quite pale and am wearing the next shade up - Nude.

try Guinot - i love it

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions so far. Havingkittens, it's good to know there is a really pade shade in the LM one - I am very pale and sometimes have trouble finding make up in a pale enough colour. I think I'll try some in the shop and then wander out into daylight to see what it looks like. Definitely sounds like the LM one is worth a go, if the colour is right.

Re: a cheaper option - I use No.7 and find it really good. I'm pretty sure that the Nivea one came out well as the budget buy in a recent Guardian article - in which Laura Mercier was the top one.

pointydog · 31/03/2011 20:21

I use no 7 too. Absolutely fine.

I also have very pale skin and recently bought the Chantecaille one which I like. I was trying to choose between that and the Laura Mercier one. They looked pretty similar on the back of my hand. The lady in Space NK said go for Chantecaille. Can't remember all the reasons but one reason was that there's a little roller ball inside so it doesn't leak out into the lid. It's SPF 15 and gives nice light coverage.

Can recommend the Laura Mercier illuminating tinted mosituriser in Bare Radiance - I'm sooooo pale and its a perfect match for my skin tone. I have quite sensitive skin too and its not given me any trouble as yet!

polyhymnia · 31/03/2011 23:52

I also bought Chantecaille in Space NK, and it's fine but not quite as good as LM, IMO.

LadyWellian · 01/04/2011 00:00

What OllieWollie said. I use the same one and also have sensitive skin. The SPF20 seems to work and I don't need another moisturiser underneath.

I chose the LM because I couldn't afford the Chantecaille. The nice people in Space NK said it was a good alternative.

LM also apparently do a really good concealer, but I couldn't run to both so I use Maybelline on my red bits.

Bobbi Brown one comes off on things a lot more and is more orange even in the lightest shade, but it does last longer.

RedwingWinter · 01/04/2011 01:42

Excellent, thanks for all the advice. I'll be in town at the weekend so I'll have a look at the no7, LM and Chantecaille, and report back!

I found a great one in debenhams called 'hissyfit' antiageing/spf50 etc - vouge calls it the holy grail of foundations (it's is a tinted moisturiser) made skin all dewy and lovely- £23, I purchased!

verycherry82 · 01/04/2011 08:35

I love the Clarins tinted moisturiser. I have pale skin and freckles and it just looks lovely, really natural and even! I think it's about £27 but is definitely worth it!

MissFoodie · 01/04/2011 11:59

I'm super pale and liked the Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Gel in Bisque, v light too and only about £18

Abr1de · 01/04/2011 12:03

I use the Vichy tinted moisturisers. They are much less expensive, £10-£12. My skin is very, very sensitive

sue52 · 01/04/2011 12:06

I'm a fan of LM but I was recently given a trial size of Estee Lauder day wear tinted moisturiser and that was very good too. It comes out of the tube in a sort of greyish/cream colour and by some magic adjusts to your own colouring.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 01/04/2011 12:07

Chantecaille much better if you're pale. Don't rate LM at all.

dottyaboutstripes · 01/04/2011 12:19

The Estee Lauder one made me look orange and felt very greasy on my face
