I am fed up with my make up routine and want to invest in some new products. What do you think are the essential basics for a SAH mum?

here i go - selling bobbi brown for the third time!
i needed a new look and new makeup, i was sick of my case full of different products i wasn't sure about or never used.
went to bb for a make over and splashed out on some if the products they used on me. i'm getting so many compliments now! so i would highly recommend going there and giving it a try, i don't think there is any obligation to buy.

A really decent foundation/ tinted moisturiser, must be perfect colour match as then you can just slap it on in a hurry and it will look good.

Other than that bronzer, some kind of highlighter (I like bobbi brown shimmer bricks) and mascara...

Absolute basics:
foundation/tinted moisturiser
black or black/brown mascara
blusher

a tinted lip balm or sheer lipstick.

I'd probably also add an eyeshadow palette in neutral/brown shades, one that has a very light pearly shade, one or two medium brown shades and a dark shade and a basic brush kit (ELF does cheap fairly good ones if you are on a budget) - then you can use it for a day look, a darker evening look, eyeliner and touching up brows. You can also use the pearly shade as a highlighter on cheekbones if you like to and if you are very clever with brushes a medium shade as a bronzer. .

You don't say what your budget is or your colouring, but if you were building it from basic essentials that's what I'd go for.

Right, everyday for me is:-

Moisturiser (I use the olay sunshine one) - I gave up foundation a couple of years ago after never leaving the house without it on, and havent looked back)
Mascara
Eyeliner
Bit of blush
Avon skin shimmer thing (tiny but)
nude lipstick

For nightime I just add some shimmer to my eyes, bit more colouring on the cheeks and a bolder lipstick.

Blimey, I dont know why I have so much make up at home (blooming loads of bags here, there and everywhere) - must have a clear out!
