I have a baby who won't nap unless taken on walks in the pram. Days like today are a nightmare as it's raining but is quite warm so my North Face coat with a hood is way too hot to wear!

Does anyone know of any stylish lightweight coats/jackets with a hood that would be suitable for warm, rainy weather? I'm putting off going out now hoping the rain will ease off but think I'm just going to have to get wet!

The trials of having a baby who won't nap in her cot! :-(

Depends on your definition of stylish. If you like funky/quirky, try Danefae (the midseason jackets are completely waterproof and they do raincoats too). I recently bought a Water off the Duck's Back raincoat. It's a very stylish and dressy hourglass cut, has a detachable hood, but be warned that it's very long, under the knee. If you are into girly/romantic, check out Avoca raincoats. I found an Avoca knock-off in H&M a few years ago and I wore it all the time when I was pregnant / pushing the pram.

Thank you for your suggestions, a bit out of my price range though unfortunately! Funky/quirky is good but might have to resort to good old north face as have seen this one and quite like it althugh not very feminine and a bit mumsy maybe!

Hmm. Surely if you can spend £98 on that north face one, we could find something a little more, erm, interesting!

Have you looked at Merrell? And do you mind patterns? This is the Avoca one I found here

No, patterns are fine. I have a polka dot trench but it's not waterproof and has no hood. I'll check out merrell now...

Much cheaper here

I have the black one and it's fine for parks, zoo trips, walks with the kids, shorter walks, school run when it's pouring down. I do have a waterproof that's very much lighter, packable, breathable, waterproof. All of which is reflected in the price ;)

That North Face isn't the most exciting jacket style wise, but it's a good technical buy for the Go Outdoors price. It keeps me dry, and provides protection from the wind.
