i have a girls night out tomorrow and think i might buy one (god knows where from yet)

whats the correct length these days?

and does knee length make your calves look massive?

and what shoes do you wear?

and is it compulsory to have a bun and glasses and a pen between your teeth like in all the mags?

just a bit below the knee (MUST be below the knee) and you need proper high heels and bright lipstick

nailpolish · 28/10/2005 14:58

proper as in no-

peeptoe/sandal/slingback/etc

and the same colour as the skirt?

OP posts:

no dont have to be same colour as skirt

I would do funky high heels

I have black and silver office pair that I wear with a black pencil skirt (looks slightly ridiculous now as 13 weeks pg, like a weeble)

nailpolish · 28/10/2005 15:02

I'm a huge fan of pencil skirts, collection in my wardrobe. Think they are very flattering. Agree with everyone here that they should be just below the actual bone of the kneecap. Not too tight, just well fitting. You absolutely have to wear high heels. My own preference is for the slightly round toes or a little bow on the front of the shoe, for the 1950s look. On top you could wear, blouse, fitted shirt, fitted jumper any pretty top really. If you are not that confident about your waistline (not suggesting for a minute that you are) then go for a shirt that sits outside your skirt. Then think groomed - doesn't have to be a bun & glasses!!!!
Have fun!
Top shop & french connection have a quite a few in.
