Tell me what to wear for DS's naming day!

So DS's naming day is end of May. I'm not normally bothered about what I wear really so bit clueless. I'm short, 5ft2, with rather large chest, so quite hard to find clothes that look good. About size 12/14 overall, and am 26 if that makes any difference.

I really would like to look nice for this one day. We've spent quite a bit because we want it to be really nice, and I'd like to look the part! Its registry office then medieval hall for afternoon tea, which will finish about 5 so only a day thing.

I found this and also this.

I like both, I love the tulip skirt on second one, but also the little sleeves on the first one - my arms aren't huge but i don't love them!

Please help me! TIA

The first one. You'll get a lot of wear out of it, that's a go anywhere dress.

tulpe · 29/03/2011 10:45

I prefer the shape of the second one but wonder if it isn't a tad too short? That's my own bias though as I prefer to wear prom style on the knee rather than above :)

Pootles2010 · 29/03/2011 12:39

I thought that tulpe but actually looking at the lengths on website it is only 1 cm shorter. Plus I'm short arse, those models are bound to be all leggy and so on me it might be alright? This is why I hate buying stuff you can't try on grrr

agree about leggy models Envy so if I were you I would order the second one :)

You can also dress it down for every day with a cardi and flip flops/ballet pumps.

Aworryingtrend · 29/03/2011 13:21

I think they are both lovely but really really like the second one.

upahill · 29/03/2011 13:45

Not sure tbh.
I like them both but I don't think they are appropiate for a naming day tbh.

mamatomany · 29/03/2011 14:47

Why what's wrong with them for a naming day ?
I had a full outfit from blooming country casuals including hat for my DD's naming day, I was 29 and looked like a mother of the bride, much prefer your choices OP.

Pootles2010 · 29/03/2011 14:51

Tell me why upahill you may well be right i just need guidance! I can't wear anything long because i'm short, i thought both looked quite 'modest'. Maybe not dressy enough?

Like I said I like them both (very much, in fact I'm quite tempted to get the credit card out!!)

Maybe the first one would be suitable but I feel the second one is more of a summer night out one IYSWIM

blueberryboybaitonSafari · 29/03/2011 14:55

I like the first one.

Thank you too for introducing me to Pepperberry - I have found an evening dress I love and in super curvy I think I will just buy in my normal size and see if it fits my boobs!

Pootles2010 · 29/03/2011 14:58

Its quite good isn't it blueberry! If slightly limited range. Would lovelovelove it if we got one near here - I'm in York so nearest one is in Newcastle - bit unrealistic.

Thanks everyone for replying - I think I will go with second one. I really like it, and think I would feel good in it.

I fancied the first one for myself but I'm bothered that if it is strectch it might highlight my hips. (which is not a good thing!)
