In a nutshell:

I work mainly from home but have to see people in a work context a couple of times a week.

Winter work wardrobe: jersey dresses & opaque tights / jersey tunics and leggings, both options with knee high boots. Thinnish cardigans if it's a bit nippy.

School run / weekend wardrobe: these jeans, vest tops, the same cardigans. Converse or ballet pumps.

Feel like I'm in a deep rut - what else could I try?

And what in God's name do I wear on my legs and feet for work now it's not really knee boot weather?

I'm 5'11, size 12-ish, skinny legs, no bust to speak of but 3 x post-partum tummy. Oh, and I'm 35.

All questions, comments or observations gratefully received.

go White Stuff I suppose

How about Mint Velvet?

I have the same problem with footwear because I hate wearing heels to work. But there are quite a lot of wedges around at the moment.

FauxFox · 27/03/2011 08:35

What about wide leg trousers with some smart bright/print ballet pumps and a fitted top lke this or a short sleeve knit for work? Add jewellery/scarves at will Smile

And for the school run what about a print skirt or a maxi skirt with flip flops or sandals and plain block colour vest tops?

IAmRubyLennox · 27/03/2011 16:34

Thanks, all of you Smile.

I love the wide leg trousers that FauxFox linked to, so long as I could get something like that long enough, I'm a 34" inside leg.

And I hadn't really thought about wedge heels to wear with skirts and the like. With bare, tanned legs, I assume, not any form of tights. I'm not especially good at the whole fake tanning malarkey, hence the over-reliance on jeans and opaques wherever possible!

Thanks for your replies.

Just WRT trouser length problem, I find that quite often Gap trousers are long (I'm a 33" inside leg and sometimes they are too long for me). Same goes for French Connnection.

IAmRubyLennox · 28/03/2011 11:31

oohh, more great suggestions, thank you very much.

I always forget about Long Tall Sally, years ago when the longest trouser you could get on the high street was about 30", I used to bemoan the lack of LTS in my town - this was before internet shopping was invented.

The skirt is particularly nice, collision.

(sorry not to be back on sooner, been busy applying for jobs, doesn't it take aaaaaages?)
