Ascot what to wear

going for the first time we are going in the mid price ring really want to wear a big hat but any dress ideas really stuck want to be compfortable so thinking a 50s style but hate my arms so dont want sleeveless

I've been a few times and I have worn:
An olive green/grey long dress with a huge cream hat and cream pashmina
A cream shift dress with a cream/brocade jacket, a large hat
A black dress with a super-fitted black and white jacket and a black and white fascinator
This year I am wearing a navy dress with a gold, navy and peacock feather fascinator/hat thing

You can really wear anything, make sure you bring layers though as it can get v chilly (jacket and pashmina), also heels sink in the grass so either wear a mid-height heel, a chunky heel or a wedge.

You can hire hats too, saves a blimmin fortune. If you're going for simple dress and statement hat then maybe pick the hat first? Then you can just match it
