you know what I mean, the sun is shining BUT out of the sun there is a slight chill... what type of cardi do you wear with them..?

Just feel that as they are long dresses you need to get the cardi length just right to save you looking like bag lady..?

help appreciated Smile.

I either wear a fitted short one with 3/4 length sleeves which comes to about waist height or a go long line, long sleeved, slightly bagger boyfriend style. Hope this helps...spring dressing can be a real nause! :)

Shhhh · 25/03/2011 15:14

thanks longisland..

Yes, you are right dresses can be a nightmare. I usually opt for shorter knee length dresses so never seem to have a problem BUT quite liking maxi dresses atm and have a few ready for summer but now worried about cardi's!

Hmm..will have to take a look online now.

I have a short length cardi, to my waist but its short sleeved not 3/4 length... hmm.. think I will take a look at m&s.

New look always have nice ideas too. Don't worry too much though am sure the cardigan police won't be after you Grin x

I think a short denim jacket looks nice with a maxi dress too.

I have bought a couple of maxi dresses this year but not yet been brave enough to worn them - I may wait until I'm abroad!!

Shhhh · 25/03/2011 15:28

lol at the cardi police Grin.

Gezze the things us women worry about..Hmm.

Now then GF, I never thought about denim jackets... I have seen a few worn with maxi dresses and never thought any more iykwim BUT thinking about it, they do look nice...

Go for it ginge, once you've done it once you will live in them all summer. Very practical with the kids and great when the summer gets really hot. So many of my friends buy clothes then don't feel brave enough to wear them. Just do it I bet you'll look fab! :)

Can I ask what shoes one wears with a maxi? Happy to go with knee boots in winter, but what about now? Are flat sandals too hippyish? And are ballet flats acceptable if it's too cold for sandals? I think heels would make me feel a bit ... suburban hairdresser on a night out.

Shhhh · 25/03/2011 15:51

I agree longisland...

in fact one mum was commenting yesterday that already she has seen a fellow mum in a maxi dress on the school run and she was very Hmm about her.

I felt like saying " good on her.. its not for long we get the sunshine and when we do why not dress appropriate" !

Update... I have ordered a denim jacket from next Grin.

See... I dont wait about me...Wink. I think I shall test my maxi dress and jacket out this weekend.Grin.

I luurve the sunshine Smile.

lol gold!

I wear ballet pumps with mine and galdiator sandals or flip flops when the weather is warmer. Think boho more than hippy!

Shhhh · 25/03/2011 15:54

bringback, im only short so would opt for heels BUT know what.. I hate wearing maxi dress with heels.. to much of a pita and not usually confy iykwim..

I wear flip flops usually.. (well I say usually... I only got into maxi dresses towards the end of last summer when on hols so have only managed a few wears, but this summer I will be wearing mine with flip flops/sandals. Even when its a bit colder some days once my feet are out thats it till winter !

I have worn a maxi dress with heels BUT it was a more formal/dressy maxi dress for a wedding.

ohhh nice sandals. Try ebay, always good for a bargain

Lipstickgal · 25/03/2011 16:26

Hi I wear maxi dresses all year round- mainly plain black ones. Depending upon the weather I either team them with a cropped cashmere v-neck cardigan or a Gringo shrug. I bought my GRingo shrugs on eBay and I get asked where I have got them from all the time. Loads of colours available and you can just chuck them in a bag because they never crease. They tie under the bust and have 3/4 sleeves. I also have a cropped denim jacket in a dark indigo which is great with these dresses.
I don't wear heels. I have an assortment of long boots and Birkenstocks. Thong sandals look really nice too. HTH

Shhhh · 25/03/2011 20:00

oh off to google gringo shrugs now Grin.

That's weird they definitely have them on there. Google it first and there is a link that shows it including a picture on the the first search page. It has always come up whenever I have searched. I would do a link but am not sure how to.

Lipstickgal · 25/03/2011 20:19

I have just done it and they have 224 of them! Rem to use cap for Gringo as it's a brand IYSWIM. Hope you get more joy.

Shhhh · 25/03/2011 20:31

Still noluck on ebay.. tried lower case and upper case.
I have googled then and found them there though.. will keep trying !
