I am dithering!!
Off out with DH next week - tea at the Ritz and then ROH to see swan lake. Very excited, but confused about what I should wear.
Has anyone been to the ROH? Is there an unofficial dress code??
Any help greatly appreciated

Yes. Been several times.
The dress code is flexible from smart to dressy evening. Don't forget you get dressed up types in the stall and student and people on a budget standing up in the gods. So it is a huge mix and depends what you feel comfortable in

I have been in a long gown with a velvet coat and have been in smart dress and jacket.

If I were doing tea first I would do cocktail style dress.

it gets v hot at the ROH, so you might need layers. But no particular dress code. Tends to be other nationalities that dress up more.

Agree with all sorts at the Ritz - wear what dh likes you in maybe??? :) Or do you need a shopping trip first?!

Thanks Pagwatch, was vereing towards that, but I never go out so am having a bit of a crisis of confidence.
Don't want to turn up looking like I've tried too hard IYKWIM

The ROH is such a lovely venue, while you can wear jeans, it seems a waste of an opportunity to get dressed up. People will be in everything from black tie onwards.

And you can't wear jeans in the Ritz - men definitely need a jacket and possibly a tie, I recall, so you won't look out of place in a smart dress or even cocktail dress as Pag suggests.

OK.....this is what I've bought

Very me (hourglass, big norks)
Fits beautifully, I never go in phase eight, was my last stop on the way out of the centre!!

I have seen that on. It is a beautiful cut and the fabric is a nice weight so it hangs well. I personally wouldn't be able to wear that print but that is just me.
I think it is ideal. You will look lovely.

Have a great time
