Go easy on me, but I want honesty, what do you think of my skirt?

Can I wear it out in public? Shall I make more of them? Does it make my bum look big? Wink

My circle skirt

I like it, but I have no taste.

its lovely and well made - BUT i reckon a pencil skirt in the flowery fabric would be more bodenesq Smile

overmydeadbody · 23/03/2011 22:50

aw thanks custy.

Pencil skirts scare me though, I'm not sure they flatter my body shape or messy appearance Grin

agree with Custardo

overmydeadbody · 23/03/2011 22:52

Ok, so, tell me more about pencil skirts and what to wear with them. Shoes etc? and can I ride a bike in one?

Links to nice pencil skirts would be appreciated too, as all I can imagine is M&S black business-type pencil skirts.

I think it is cute but not with those tights and shoes - it's a summery thing, needs sandals and bare legs and a little white top.

Well done making it though - it's ages since I've made anything except curtains. Feel a bit inspired.

savoycabbage · 23/03/2011 22:53

I really like it, especially with the blue legs.

I have only ever made one thing and it WAS a pencil skirt in a flowery fabric. It was in a sewing class and everybody else had tweed and the like.

lovingthesun · 23/03/2011 22:53

I think you've got a lovely figure, so not sure how it would make your bum look big !

Personally I'm not keen - I like the spotty fabric, not so keen on the blue though & I'm bit put off because it's so flared (they look horrible on me, my problem I know!)

It's great you've made it though & I especially like the trim.

PrairieDog · 23/03/2011 22:54

I agree with oldenoughtowearpurple bare legs, flat sandals and little summery top.

Oh and well done.

MmeLindt · 23/03/2011 22:56

It is very pretty but needs to be worn with sandals and a plain white top. There are too many colours vying for attention there.

savoycabbage · 23/03/2011 22:57

There is a woman at our school who wears wrap around apron skirts like this

Thanks for the comments!

Yes I agree, it needs bare legs, sandals and a little white top, and that will happen as soon as the weather warms up, I promise!

lovinthesun I know what you mean, the main reason I'm not sure about this skirt is the amount of fabric, I tihnk if I make another skirt like this I will make it a half circle rather than a full circle, it just adds bulkiness otherwise.

Actually I think circle skirts look best on little girls, but they seemed like the easiest skirt to make!

OP posts:
overmydeadbody · 23/03/2011 23:18

savoy I quite like that, and I'm not usually keen on wrap skirts!

OP posts:
MmeLindt · 23/03/2011 23:32

Bulkiness depends on the fabric, imo. I had a lovely circle skirt in a really light cotton when I was younger.

Not sure about the skirt but I am very Envy of your flat stomach

fridakahlo · 24/03/2011 03:25

I think it's well cool! but I am accused of having no taste either. I am a definate believer in clothes that stand out. So maybe a good reason to avoid Wink
And I must agree with KristinaM too!

beijingaling · 24/03/2011 03:43

LOVE the skirt (and whole outfit) on you! Also v Envy of your legs & stomach.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 24/03/2011 03:57

Love it. If I wasn't so humongous it's the sort of thing I'd love to wear.

Misfitless · 24/03/2011 04:35

How many DCs have you got with a stomache like that? I love your skirt agree about bare legs and sandals - role on the summer!

withagoat · 24/03/2011 06:19

Shoes wrong

overmydeadbody · 24/03/2011 08:21

Thanks SuperSal, hope I inspire others with my blog.
