I am going to a ball on Saturday, the host says although some people are going in ball gowns most are going in cocktail dresses or just 'nice attire'

I am 5ft, I am shaped like an hour glass size 14. I have giant boobs, smaller waist and big hips, short legs but can wear a small heel.

I cant go shopping until Friday and the shops I have at my disposal are,

Topshop
New Look
Oasis
Dorothy Perkins
Phase 8
Monsoon (although very £££££)
H&M

Help me please, I have ots of dresses but they are all either summery casual dresses or they don't look right Sad

I brought this > www.oasis-stores.com/Taffeta-Bow-Prom-Dress/Sale/oasis/fcp-product/5650002306 I thought it looked ok but everyone else (lots of people) said it didn't sut me so I clearly have no clue when it comes to dresses!

Keeping with Oasis (my favourite for dresses) did you see this?

Quite fancy, but black's nice and easy if you aren't comfy in very smart dresses.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/03/2011 15:53

I have that dress! I wore it last Saturday for my birthday, lots of compliments but I wanted something different to wear for the ball. :)

It is lovely though.

I'm not keen on the oasis one you linked to, looks like it should be called 'my first prom dress' but that's just me. I also have 'giant boobs' and couldn't do strapless.

How old are you and what colouring?

FebreezeYourJeans · 23/03/2011 16:48

Top Shop - could be too high necked

FebreezeYourJeans · 23/03/2011 16:50

oasis - could be fab if dressed up & you have good legs

FebreezeYourJeans · 23/03/2011 16:54

DP if your arms are great

scotsgirl23 · 23/03/2011 17:04

Monsoon has a mid season sale on - there are a couple of nice things online that might be instore

I'd avoid strapless if you are non confident in dresses and have big boobs. You'll be yanking it up all night and probably feel quite overexposed!

www.monsoon.co.uk/mid-season-sale/sale-dresses/icat/mwssaledress/ I quite like the middle ones on the top two rows

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/03/2011 17:19

Haha I have that 'Love dress' from Oasis to!

I am a young looking 24, very pale with dark red hair. I don't have good arms but do have good legs.

This Phase Eight one would look good as the sleeves will flatter arms, the black top will flatter big boobs and the nipped in waist will flatter hour-glass figure and the length will flatter legs. I think it's lovely anyway!

Great taste Titsalina Wink

See, I quite like that prom dress, especially if you're only 24, what is it that's meant to not suit you? Perhaps the light colour on it's own against your pale skin might be the problem? Some chunky black jewellery and a fitted black shrug / short jacket would do the trick and give it an 'edge' though IMO.

BelligerentGhoul · 23/03/2011 19:57

Prom dress is not nice, imho. I'm 5'2 and a norky size 12 and it would look hideous on me. Too shiney, too 'crunchy' looking and too light so would add bulk, I think.

Much better to go for a nice dress that you can wear again.
