Hi, I've ordered this dress
Oasis

and have got these boots
Gabor

What colour/type of tights do you think would work best?

Flesh coloured I think.

nicole333 · 22/03/2011 21:31

Thanks for replying to the correct thread out of three!

Flesh colour, hmm, hadn't considered that.

I'd wear grey

plopplopquack · 22/03/2011 21:33

I recently went out in brown boots and denim (so blue) skirt with grey tights and it looked just fine.

ellangirl · 22/03/2011 21:33

Navy opaque probably, though it might be a bit much as the dress is plain navy. Navy cable knit? I can't say I'm altogether sure about the combination (sorry!) although I like both things individually.

rockinhippy · 22/03/2011 21:34

I'd go for Navy, as close to the dress colour as possible

  • love the dress btw :)
madwomanintheattic · 22/03/2011 21:37

i haven't bought anything navy since 1989 for precisely this reason. Grin

good luck.

rockinhippy · 22/03/2011 21:45

Thinking on it again, if you are younger, or more fashion minded & don't care & want to jazz it up a bit - you could go for contrasting bright opaques, mustard, lime, maybe even red, & tie it all in with chunky jewellery in the same bright shade

MerylStrop · 22/03/2011 21:47

nice dress
grey tights
flesh might work too

Themumsnot · 22/03/2011 21:49

Agree with rockinhippy. Contrasting tights would be great.
I have dress envy. Grin

MrsSeanBean · 22/03/2011 22:01

These in grey, ink or teal?

MilliONaire · 22/03/2011 23:05

definitely NOT flesh coloured - they are the work of the devil!!! I would do with navy, M&S do a good shade called indigo which might work, or I would wear plum, or brown opaques

whoneedssleepanyway · 23/03/2011 06:00

Posted on wrong thread...

Lovely dress I have it in the black with camel spots.

I would try to match the navy too. Oasis might have navy tights in right shade.

Other thoughts aubergine...or deep plum...

wendihouse22 · 23/03/2011 09:59

Navy.... like the dress (lovely dress!!) if you can get them.

I'd say no to flesh though.

RamblingRosa · 23/03/2011 10:04

I'd say flesh or if you're going for opaque something like aubergine or maybe that nice oatmeal colour...

Chandon · 23/03/2011 10:50

I would say do not wear navy and brown together. Navy dress with black tights and black boots however looks very good.

plopplopquack · 23/03/2011 13:02

What's wrong with flesh coloured tights?! Have I missed something there? Uhoh

nicole333 · 23/03/2011 17:18

Thankyou ladies. I'm waiting for the dress to arrive atm, it looks perfect for my shape and I'm trying really hard to get me out of my jeans. I hope it looks ok. I love the suggestion of jazzing it up, but fear my age wouldn't let me get away with it.

I'm petite and I suppose I should try and keep to one colour, but rules can be too limiting sometimes! I love the grey white stuff tights and have a shop close by. I'll look in M&S as soon as I have the dress in my posession.

plopplopquack · 23/03/2011 18:04

I have patterned tights like that and they are fab. Flattering and look great with lots of things.

Seriously are flesh coloured tights out of fashion or something?

Meggles76 · 23/03/2011 21:18

Navy teal or mustard opaques.
Avoid flesh like the plague or you will ruin your outfit

KristinaM · 24/03/2011 02:45

I agree, navy, plum or grey wool or patterned if you don't want to go contrasting

I wear brown or tan boots with navy all the time

IngridBergmann · 24/03/2011 06:17

Not sure if anyone has said, but M&S have got multi packs of a sort of airforce blue grey in a 60d at the moment.

I got some thinking Hmm but they are GORgeous against skin tone, they go a bluey pinky brown and look great with almost anything, very flattering.

Navy might be too much with a navy skirt but these are great. Cheap as well.

plopplopquack · 24/03/2011 10:41

WHATS WRONG WITH FLESH!?!

nicole333 · 24/03/2011 11:06

Someone posted on my other crappy links thread the M&S navy ones that have little flowers on them. I have socks similar from White stuff, I think they're called 'Victorian', anyway I bloody love those tights and will go in search of them too. Stuff feeling too old!

My dress has been 'dispatched' Grin

Ooh, nearly forgot. I can't tell you what's wrong with flesh, apart from guessing many of us may share memories of having to go to the shop for your mum to pick up some 'American tans'

BlooCowWonders · 24/03/2011 11:32

I'd be wearing my dark brown opaques with that combo, but am thinking that I need to get out of my opaques by this weekend!
