Heavy legs + skinny jeans = ???

Do they ever work together? Opinions seem to differ. What's the MN'ers take on this... I am 5'8", size 16 following DD2 8 months ago but slowly working my way back down to 12-14. My legs are big/heavy/chunky(?) whatever you want to call them but they are quite long and I would say they are a reasonably nice shape. So are skinnies not just for skinnies or am I deluding myself?!

What about straight/slim leg jeans? I find them a lot more forgiving than skinnies personally

nope I'm afraid

I have chunky legs - big thighs, muscular calves - and bootlegs aer the only ones that work on me...

Skinnies are ok if you have a nice long top/tunic - just dont wear a short top or you will end up looking like a triangle!! Bootlegs prob more appropriate I would imagine xx

I'm a size 18 and have truly offensive legs! Fairly sausage like if honest (exact same shape as my dads am such a lucky girl!) Tho I do have slim ankles......anyway I wear skinnies and think I just about get away with it always dark indigo or black (tried grey once and they look awful) and always with a longline top or tunic and flats or tucked into boots but it does work. I find bootcut rather "mumsy" on me so have been wearing skinnies for ages now however I did only try them 5 or so years ago when I lost a tonne of weight went down to a 14 but as the weights gone back on I've realised thta the shape does still work for me.......

Thanks ladies. I was thinking indigo/dark dye or black denim with nothing shorter than tunic length top if I did go for it & chunky heels or wedges - can't see flats being all that forgiving on me as they seem to shorten my legs. I might give straight leg jeans a go instead as I'm also tired of bootcuts. The thing is I have seen some curvier girls carrying the look off well, I just hope I'm not kidding myself if I'm not one of them! I've convinced a friend whose sense of style is back in tact post-DC to come shopping with me tonight so hopefully she will tell me honestly if my legs look like hoover bags! Blush

Its all about proportions and a good pert arse and the shapely leg. I do think a larger lady can pull of skinnies, jeggings or even...leggingsShock which is why larger Latino or black women can really pull them off and if in doubt a long bum covering vest is a good bet.

I think so, I'm a 12, 5'8" and have ginormous muscly legs that a rugby player would be jealous of (I don't know why as I don't even do much exercise) I can't even get my legs into most skinny jeans so straight legs are a godsend.

I have 2 pairs of the topshop marthas (black and indigo) that are great, and always wear tunic-type tops (having a long torso is also a pain). I wear balltes pumps all the time but they do look best with chunky heels or boots (don't get me started on boots to fit big calves).

I think so too (5'5" size 16 pear shape here with sturdy calves and chunky thighs). Well fitting (pref not Empire line) tunics down to at least bottom of the bum but no longer than mid thigh. Boots - I cannot get boots to fit my calves very often (find Duo a bit dressy with jeans) but have mid calf ones which are perfect. I think I am going to have to put them away for the summer though, they don't look too good with shoes and sandals on me. Although I am going to try folding them up to crop length and see if that works.
