Dh stuck in a time warp - communion coming up - Need HELP

Dh is 45 (46 in May) and tbh he still loves the 80's fashion . (wears jeans everyday)
We have DD's communion coming up in 3 weeks time & dh still has nothing to wear Hmm i'm starting to panic as he has bought two outfits so far & neither of these look well on him (his words).
Please can anyone help dress dh for the communion day , or give advice as to what kind of clothes might be suitable ?
He is thinking of a black suit style jacket with a white shirt that has black wooden type buttons & mid wash blue jeans & black boots .
What do you all think ?

blue jeans and a black jacket....
um.....
Don JOhnson called...he'd like his communion outfit back please Grin

more constructively...
DARK jeans with no jacket but smart shirt/tie?

Reddisc · 21/03/2011 11:01

Grin I know I know my thoughts exactly - I'm 9years younger than dh & he mocks my taste in clothes constantly Hmm so i have given up pushing my opinions onto him but its DD's big day & he wants to wear jeans again because he says he feels like an old man in trousers Hmm .

If you can persuade him not to wear jeans, how about what you mentioned in OP for top half, with beige chino type trousers on the lower half? DH often wears navy moleskin jacket, beige trousers/ cords, and open necked shirt, which works for him, but his style is more 'country colonel'...

Reddisc · 21/03/2011 11:03

I suggested Dark Jeans & he said "no & that i have No taste" . I'm really getting fed up at this stage tbh

I am cringing writing this but the black boots he wants are cowboy style boots .

DH (sad 80's reject that he is) looks particularly good in these With boots and a nice jersey (he's a fan of Paul Smith) he brushes up surprisingly well without resorting to a suit.

Ok, mid blue jeans with a smart shirt and tie? NO JACKET with mid blue jeans.

Not for smart, maybe for casual if you are doing the 'new 80'' look...

tigana · 21/03/2011 11:30

oooh dark jeans go nicely with grey hair, dontcha know.
tell him mid blue jeans and grey hair is a bit philip schofield?
