If you wear a trench coat, you can't wear a longer layer underneath, or can you?

i.e. a longer dress or skirt.

I wear a lot of knee length skirts/ dresses, and coats I've tried are often shorter.

I suppose an inch or so difference would not look too odd. Or should this style just be worn with jeans/trosers or skirt length equal to or shorter than the coat? (Sorry this post is beginning to sound like an equation!)

Opinions welcomed.

lilacisinlove · 20/03/2011 14:04

no, please just get a long enough coat.

MrsSeanBean · 20/03/2011 14:50

It;s so much easier to wear trousers really.

it looks daft, IMO

MrsSeanBean · 20/03/2011 14:54

Yes I know it looks daft if there is too much of a difference - I sppose my post was aimed at the more subtle differences in lengths really. Example: is this coat too short for the dress?

Another example - see here

Am still not liking it Smile

So, options are:

(a) get coat I like and don't wear half of my clothes;

(b) get longer (probably frumpsville) coat I don't like (anyone seen any longer ones?);

or

(c) get multiple coats of varying lengths.

Well I wear shorter coats with longer skirts/dresses. But I see that once again, I am a style pariah. Grin

there is a (d)

ignore internet sprites and do what the heck you like Grin

I think it depends a lot on the coat length. Something like this is too short to match the length.
