Shortening a long coat!

I an interview in 2 weeks and have to buy a new suit so cannot afford to buy a new coat as well.
I have a long lightweight black trench from M&S that is almost new bought for a funeral when pregnant, but feel that it makes me to mumsy.
I was thinking that I could get it altered to a 3/4 length which I would hope makes it a bit more stylishConfused. Has anyone tried this?

Do you need a coat in April?

You will take it off when you get there anyway and so no one will see it. Does it matter if it's mumsy?

Gotta - where do you live? I live in London and often need a coat even in July !!! Not a proper winter coat but certainly a trench !

Giggly - I have done this with a few coats as I am short. It makes a huge difference to how they look - from mumsy to chic.

Hey Gotta I am in Glasgow and interview in London so no doubt 4 seasons in one day.

Daydreaming thanks, I thought it would look better shorter. Of to Nans in Partick on Monday then.

Also got to amuse myself for 4 hours in interview garb!

Giggly, don't worry about looking smart in London - loads of Londoners dress very smart for work every day!

Good luck with your interview and have fun shopping!
