Lipstick colours for the clueless

So I used to be a red lipstick woman a couple of years ago - Mac Russian Red every day, that sort of thing. Then I got a bit bored with that, and with make-up generally, and went to the other, bare-faced, extreme. But now I'm pg and looking bloody knackered, frankly, I want a bit of colour and have no idea where to start! (Also: I'm vegan, which makes going into department stores to try lipsticks pretty much pointless - I tried Urban Decay, but when I said I didn't want anything too loud, the assistant looked rather .)

Any suggestions for fairly neutral shades for mid-brown hair, brown eyes, fairly pale with yellowish undertones?

Do you only wear vegan cosmetics then? Sorry, I'm confused

A nice russety red. Not pillarbox, and not brown. a sort of auburn ...

depending if your lips are thick, full, thin, etc. Think or full lips take matte colours better, thin ones light and shiny, brown hair with brown eyes can take almost anything except very pale pink.
