im sorry to keep asking about dresses but am desperate, and indescisive! Please could you tell me what you think about these? For a wedding, i am size 18 but huge norks so 20 fine for dresses, big tummy but slim legs. Prob wear with a blazer and heels. Oh and im early 20s

navy

possibly frumpy

black and white

strapless

my friend recommended this- i think it is hideous, please confirm?
vile

So proud of myself for mastering the links!

Thanks :-)

I like the navy and the black, but will you have bra issues? You really don't want to be hitching up a strapless bra all day.
Really don't like the B&W one, the print is good, but you would be quite naked-is that okay for the wedding?

cyb · 18/03/2011 16:12

I think the first one will make your booswams look even bigger

I actually prefer the possibly frumpy but not sure about a blazer with that one

FauxFox · 18/03/2011 16:16

I like the strapless one - stunning and will show off your legs Grin Blazer with corsage for daytime bit and you'll be set. Nude heels??

BelligerentGhoul · 18/03/2011 16:27

I think the first one could be v v unflattering tbh.

The possibly frumpy one is actually very nice indeed but would be better with a bolero or cropped cardigan than a blazer.

Black and white one fine with a blazer.

No to the strapless unless you plan to keep your jacket on. I think you could be v uncomfortable in strapless.

Friend one is indeed vile.

madammecholet · 18/03/2011 16:46

Strapless one looks the best shape, but not sure on pattern, and I would shoot your friend.Grin

madammecholet · 18/03/2011 16:52

I would maybe try something slinky with a V to show off your chest and short to show off your legs .. I know you may shreak at looking at phase eight, but the shapes would be good on you i think :)

madammecholet · 19/03/2011 09:01

madammecholet · 19/03/2011 09:04

jenda The code P8JTW can be used on top of the mid-season reduction for an extra 20% off, making the hankerchief dress even more bargainous!!Wink

Jenda · 19/03/2011 12:27

Wow, comes to £38! Going to try it on today and then will order online if its nice, and i am PRAYING its nice!!

OP posts:
Jenda · 21/03/2011 09:39

Tried on the purple hankerchief, lovely but didnt sit quite right under my boobs, grrr

Bought this anyway because I like it, do you think I could dress it up for a wedding? Blazer, heels, nice hair etc? Or am I clutching at straws?!

maybe?

SarkyLady · 21/03/2011 10:23

if you change the belt and have great shoes then it could work IMO

Jenda · 21/03/2011 11:04

Thanks, I was thinking different belt, what kind would you go for? Bit clueless at the mo!

OP posts:
SarkyLady · 21/03/2011 11:14

I'd go for a wide belt.
colour depends on the shoes. are you buying these or using ones that you have?

SarkyLady · 21/03/2011 11:14

btw what is the quality like on the dress?

I'm tempted :)

MrsSeanBean · 21/03/2011 11:21

I like the 'possibly frumpy' (not) one best.

Wear with a cropped white / cream jacket and blue flower type pin.

Jenda · 21/03/2011 12:37

Its actually quite good i was suprised! Its cotton and it sits nicely, very flattering. I thought seeing as it was £20 if it only lasts this summer then its not bad! There is a blue one with bird print in the same shape which im eyeing up. Never know what you're going to get with peacocks but Im pleased with this one! And yes, buying new shoes!

OP posts:
SarkyLady · 21/03/2011 13:30

Will it need lots if ironing?

I'm very lazy.

FauxFox · 21/03/2011 13:56

I would take the dress to a fabric shop and buy a wide ribbon in either blue or pinky/coral to match the print and tie a bow either at the back or off to one side at the front. Instantly makes it a more "occasion" dress.

Add a cardi in a darker shade of the colour ribbon cobalt or magenta

tan wedges

cute sparkly bag

And optional feather/flower/jewel hair band/clip

MrsSeanBean · 21/03/2011 13:57

Are you really Gok Wan FauxFox?

FauxFox · 22/03/2011 06:47

Sadly not MrsSeanBean but i'll take that as a compliment Grin

ellangirl · 22/03/2011 09:29

Jenda what length is the dress? I really love it!

Jenda · 24/03/2011 11:16

FauxFox (GOK!) Thank you so so much, the ribbon is an excellent idea and i shall definitely be doing that this weekend! LOVE the sparkly bag, bit out of my budget but its on my birthday list! Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it

Sarky lady- unfortunately yes it is going to need a bit of ironing, but not much I don't think, I never buy anything that requires much ironing!

ellangirl- Its just above the knee i think, very flattering! Thats on me and im about 5"6 out of heels
