I want to downsize! Any ideas? I've tried a few, ages ago, but used Lancome for ages, but now with DCs dont't like the ££££s that go with it!

L'Oreal- blue like the Lancome one and around £3. I like it.

ps- i can't wean myself off Hypnose mascara- v disappointed with cheaper ones but some people swear by Max Factor cal 2000- haven't tried that.

PipCarrier · 15/03/2011 20:32

I've tried Max Factor cal 2000 and Max Factor masterpiece to try and replace Hypnose ... can't recommend either. Will be going back to Lancome Hypnose when I next buy, just can't beat it; unfortunately as agree it is £££ when you have kids.

The Body Shop's chamomile eye make-up remover is very good, but afraid there is no mascara as good as a Lancome, IME.

Lancome mascaras are usually the best but L'Oreal's Million Lashes is really good. In fact, i currently have 2 black mascaras on the go, one Lancome the other is the L'Oreal which I end up using the most. EMR: I use Vichy, gentle, as effective and cheaper.

Thanks ladies - think I'll stick with the lancome mascara and try different remover. Was fully expecting to be told expensive mascara is a waste of money and superdrug own brand (or similar) is just as god!

I swapped from Lancome to L'Oreal when I had children and I'm happy. It's about £12, not £3 like cabaggeroses suggested. I remove my eye makeup (and all my make up for that matter) with Simple face wash. Gets rid of the lot in no time.

Baby oil is fab to remove eye make-up. Obviously leaves your eye a bit oily afterwards but nothing a bit of warm water can't remove. And it's cheap!

the bourjois eye stuff is great. I substituted the Clinique stuff with this 6 months ago and it's just as good and ££££££££s cheaper.

I downshifted to L'Oreal telescopic mascara and find it a very good substitute. Downshifted to L'Occitance Shea range of eye make up remover and cleanser which I really liked but recently went even more downmarket to Simple - which is actally ok and has saved me a lot of money!

I use sweet almond oil from Holland and Barrett (almost permanently on sale at £2.89). Very gentle, very effective - you just wash the oil off with warm water. Removes even waterproof eye make up.

Boots No7 do an eye make-up remover that's similar to Lancome Bifacils. L'Oreal also used to have a very similar one in their Demaq Expert range - I think it's been discontinued but you would find it online.

Mascara-wise, I like Maybelline best. Which Lancome one do you use, spongefingers?
