Need a hairstyle/haircut...

As the title suggests, I think I need a hairstyle. Getting bored and depressed by my hair.

I've put a photo on my profile (I think), so please come along and help me! Please ignore dodgy t-shirt and boring beige interiors...

I have long hair (nearly at small of back), lightish brown. Decent condition. Falls into a natural middle parting, but this looks dreadful, I think - as if I'd stepped out of a bad 70s movie.

I think I want to try to keep some length as far as possible, so I suppose I'm thinking layers. I'm not interested in colouring it, really.

I have a big, wonky nose, stupidly small mouth, cheeks which seem enormous and fat because of said small mouth. Errr, tired eyes (perpetual shadows) which appear to be different sizes. Bad eyebrows which never recovered from overplucking as a teen.

Can a hairstyle fix this? Grin

Any style and beauty night owls who can suggest a cut? Pictures? I've been trying to figure out what face shape I have, but can't decide between heart (quite a pointy chin?) and rectangle/long (I think I have quite an equine look). I have never had a good cut in a salon, mostly because I don't really know what I want when I go in, I think.

TIA!

LaRagazzaInglese · 13/03/2011 23:15

oh dear!

Sanesometimes1 · 13/03/2011 23:19

was just going to sugggest a jennifer style too ! also think you could re-consider on the colour - what about some warming low tones ? will look lovely I think.

Penthesileia · 13/03/2011 23:19

Ciao, Ragazza! Thanks for that. It worked fine. Yes, JA always looks great. But I should have mentioned that I'm also spectacularly lazy (god, I sound a catch, all in all, eh?), and probably don't have the skill to style my hair like that each day. Would long layers still look ok without too much work, do you think?

PS. Are you on the LI threads? I've been AWOL and need to go back, but am scared the ladies will scold me for being away... Ciao, belle if any of you read this! Smile

A bit of a fringe? I have a long face and find it shortens it well. You can just have a few long strands cut which you can sweep to the side and easily grow out if you dont like it.

brimfull · 14/03/2011 16:39

yup you need a style
fringe would be good
I would get some golden highlights ,not loads.
Layered bob to shoulder length
Put some effort in by adding a volumiser and blasting with blow dryer.
here

Penthesileia · 15/03/2011 16:23

Thanks all for your advice.

LOL @ girl: "put some effort in"! Yes, ma'am! :o
