Brilliant jeans

Help please! I'm very pleased with myself for losing all my baby weight, and want to celebrate with a brilliant pair of jeans. Is it worth spending lots of money (Like about £100) or shall I stick with New Look?

I once had a pair of French Connection ones from a charity shop that made me think spending the extra might be worthwhile. What's your experience of higher end jeans? Thanks!

More expensive jeans are usually worth in that they will be lovely, soft fabric and great flattering cut, but be warned that because they are usually nice and soft, they don't wear as well as cheaper pairs...so holes will appear in knees etc! Very distressing! Personally having had expensive pairs I can't find cheaper ones that fit as well or look as good, though I am sure plenty of people will disagree....

I guess the answer is to head for a department store with lots of brands and spend a few hours trying on loads!

I have recently bought half a dozen pairs of high end jeans (7 For All Mankind and MiH) in various cuts (skinny, bootcut, flare) and washes. Bought them after I got fed up with cheap high street jeans that didn't fit right and started losing their shape after a couple of washes. It was easier to find mid-rise in higher-end jeans (no more low rise for me - can't deal with jeans falling down and bum flash any more). Finally, I'm on the tall side, so some high street finds were simply too short for me.

It's crucial to find a make that fits your shape. 7FAM is perfect for me, feels made-to-measure. The RRP of all of my new jeans is about £150, but I've looked for bargains online - about £60 per pair at yoox.com and Outnet. My oldest pair of 7FAM is from 2003 and they still look and feel perfect.

I find that a great pair of jeans is so easy to dress up and down.

Need to add that I've worn a pair of MiH Vienna jeans all day - perhaps my favorite pair at the moment. The sky blue Delta wash is so pretty and they go with everything (tailored jacket + jewellery for work / knits, tunics and t-shirts at home). They are technically low-rise but quite cleverly cut, they stay on. Would love mid-rise or high-rise even more though...

I just bought my new favourite jeans from River Island. I know it's a vit intimidating, they always put size 6 at the front and have lots of ripped, studded jobs, but they are such good quality and cut (size 10 pear here)

Diesel I also love.

Gap is good if you want something mid-priced. I love their Curvy jeans.

I have just bought my first pair of 7 for All Mankind jeans and they are really fab. No baggy knees like the Gap pair, no muffin top like my Topshop ones (that otherwise wore well). However, I'm currently living in the USA for a few months, and managed to get them for $109 at an outlet mall (about £70) - not sure I could have brought myself to pay £150 for them.

I wear Nudie jeans and I love them. Most of them are c£100.

Thanks everyone.

Apparently 7FAM turn up in TKMaxx occasionally, so maybe I shall start stalking the rails in there. I've just had to have a filling, with another next week, so maybe the budget's just gone down a bit.
