Which boots???

Hi,

I've had a lot of advice on here recently to help me give my wardrobe an overhaul. I've got some great jeans, leggings with tops/tunics and even some skirts and dresses which I haven't years. Now I just need some footwear and I hope you don't mind me asking for some mumsnet expertise one more time. At the moment I live in trainers or a very boring pair of plain low black ankle boots (I'm crap at walking on heels). I'd love a pair of boots that I can wear with jeans/leggings/skirts, a pair of wedges for the spring and some ballet flats. I just have no idea what style of boots or shoes can go with everything Confused. Do I go for short or long boots???This is my favourite new skirt so I guess I'm looking for black boots. Any ideas???

Then I was thinking about something like these or these for the summer to go with jeans and skirts. What do you think?

Thanks again for all the advice I've had - I'm finally leaving the house feeling good rather than frumpy Smile.

There are lots of ballet flats about - depending how much you want to spend. Try New Look for cheap and cheerful (around £7.99), Next had some nice leather ones for around £20 and Boden has nice ones if you want to pay a bit more. I always think metallic ones are quite nice for summer. I have a lovely silver/gold colour pair.

As for the boots, I always go for knee boots. But I am short and think ankle boots make me look shorter if I wear with skirts. Clarks has a sale on their boots at the moment.

I like the first pair of wedges and hate the second - don't know if that helps at all?!

I wouldn't bother buying long boots now tbh but I wouldn't wear ankle boots with that skirt. I'd wear it with ballet flats or wedges.

this wedge sandal will be very versatile for summer wear with skirts and jeans
ballet flats would be great also
I would say I agree with Belligerentghoul in that its a bit late in the season for boots and you prob wouldnt get much wear out of them. They wouldn't go with that skirt (which is lovely btw) you'd be better with black ballets or sandals/gold ballets in summer

I think you could pick up a pair of black boots now that you can wear until it's warmer and then again later this year.

With the poppy skirt you have shown, flat knee highs would look great, (personally I think it's more flattering to have a gap between the top of the boot and the bottom of the skirt when standing) something like these would look nice. You could easily pair them with leggings or tucked in jeans. Biker styles with a chunkier sole are set to be a big trend this autumn.

As the others have said, ballet flats are everywhere, I would choose some with leather linings so you can feel comfortable with bare feet. Combine with jeans turned up once or leggings and tunic or even leggings and the skirt you have chosen.

Wedges are lovely, I like the style that Clure posted, nice with cargo trousers or leggings and a shirt dress or jeans turned up.
