Can you help me please?

Need a dress for a wedding.

I'm size 14-16 and short. Thighs not fit for human consumption, so need something that covers to just below knee. Arms are like two cartoon hams, so will need to do cardi type thing if the dress is sleeveless. Would prefer sleeves (even short) and no cardigan.

Can you do a maxidress if you're short and a bit fat? Would it be too long? Not sure where a maxi hemline is supposed to stop, top of foot?

Style-wise, I like vintagey, and also geometric type prints, also draping. Happy with colour or muted. Happy to wear heels.

Maxi with chunky wooden heels, im not a follower of fashin but 70s vibe is 'in' so shouldnt be hard to find wooden heeled shoes. cant go wrong with a maxi dress :)

Can you do orange?

Or vintage? Also here

Mango

Jaeger

What's your budget and when's the wedding?

MrsMiyagi · 13/03/2011 07:44

Thanks tethersend, for going to all that effort!

I love love love the second vintage one you linked to. Going to measure myself and see if I can get in it, if I can, I'll buy it!

A friend of mine who will be at the wedding has that Mango dress. I also really like the Jaeger one (didn't even think of Jaeger), but wonder if it might be a bit short, as it's above the knee on the model (although I am of course, far from model height!).

Budget is under £100. Wedding is end of April.

What about one of these with a bolero?

FellatioNelson · 13/03/2011 11:09

That Jaeger dress is absolutely gorgeous, and so is the green vintage one.

this is nice if you've got a decent waist

FellatioNelson · 13/03/2011 11:10

How old are you by the way?

MrsMiyagi · 13/03/2011 18:29

Thanks for the new suggestions, it's so nice of you all to bother to send links and everything. Lots of food for thought there. There's no JL near me, so I didn't think of them.

Loving those 50s dresses, though not sure my tum is quite flat enough!

I'm 40, bah humbug arse.

Feel rather honoured to be receiving style advice from FellatioNelson, you have one of my favourite MN names!

The vintage one is Crimplene!

Clure · 13/03/2011 20:01

sorry that first link went a bit ski-wiff! this with bolero gold jewellery

FellatioNelson · 13/03/2011 20:03

Ah, well that's the beauty of the internet. I can tell everyone else what to wear like I am some sort of afficionado on the matter, and no-one need ever know that in RL I look like this

MrsMiyagi · 14/03/2011 15:34

Thanks Clure, those dresses are GORGEOUS. Bit out of my price range, going to need to get shoes too

Fellatio, now I've seen your photo I have a girl crush.
