Machine washing UGG boots?

My UGGS need a clean - frankly if they get ruined in the process if won't be the end of the world as they are somewhat battered, so I am not concerned in principal about machine washing them.

So my questions are -

1. Has anyone here succesfully washed their UGGS and which cycle did you use?

2. Did your washing machine survive it?!

3. How did you dry them?

I washed my dd's Uggs on the wool cycle. I put them on an airer to dry. They looked like new when they were dry (they were muddy and stained when they went in) and the washing machine was fine.
