Quick question about Eve Lom

Janefeelsold · 11/03/2011 16:58

After a friend singing its praises I have decided to indulge. I am going to get the cleanser as it seems to have cult status but which moisturiser?
Should I go for the standard moisturiser or the TLC radiance cream? Can anyone tell me the difference?

-If it helps, I'm 39 and my skin is neither too dry not too oily but I don't have an even tone and it lacks the dewey lustre it had 15yrs ago! Grin

Advice and opinions gratefully received. TIA

Have you asked for samples?

My friend said the same. I bought nearly the whole range and after two weeks ended up with hives/ blotches/ boils on my neck and jaw line.

Try before you buy.

Janefeelsold · 11/03/2011 17:06

Oh gosh! No, I didn't think about samples. I'm not sure where to get it other than online tbh. I couldn't see it in either JL or HofF.

About 5yrs ago I bought some creme de la mere whilst in the States. Awful stuff yet seems so expensive. I wouldn't want to repeat that.

I did'nt like the Eve Lom moisturisers, I tried the spf15 and the tlc.
I actually even prefer the Liz Earle cleanser, I have a 3/4 full pot of Eve Lom in my bathroom. It was ok but I found it such a faff.

beijingaling · 11/03/2011 18:16

A lot of people don't use a moisturizer after EL. Iirc the tlc cream is more of a rescue/ heavier moisturizer.

I love el btw, nothing better.

beijingaling · 11/03/2011 18:17

I would buy the starter set first though. You can then use it for travel if you decide to buy a big tub.

schmee · 11/03/2011 18:19

I love the cleanser but can't stand the moisturiser - awful stuff that comes off in big white clumps.

Janefeelsold · 11/03/2011 19:27

Thanks everyone, all really helpful. Think I'll go for the travel set as that seems a sensible place to start. Smile

What carat said - I bought the cleanser a few years ago and my skin broke out in terrible spots and boils.

Lizzywishes · 11/03/2011 22:48

I use the cleanser and love it. I also now have the TLC radiance cream, which is a very light cream, very moisturising without being greasy. There's also the original TLC cream which is heavier stuff for dry patches - I sometimes use it as a night cream. You can get starter size packs in SpaceNK to try the products first.

Umnitsa · 12/03/2011 00:42

Another fan of TLC here. I use it as a night cream; it also works very well for me on / after long-haul flights and in winter when the skin is so dry.

I think Eve Lom moisturiser is rather mediocre - not bad but nothing to write home about.

I bought TLC radiance for the first time about a month ago and am not particularly impressed. I think it is too light for me and my skin looks very dry and flaky.

So overall Eve Lom works for me in the evening - cleanser and TLC, but for a day cream I need some other brand.

Agree with the idea of trying samples first. Eve Lom samples are quite generous and one pouch will last you a few days. If you are in London, you can find it in Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Fenwick's and Space NK.

I think your skin does need to adapt when you change products, DH bought me creme de la mer about 5 years ago and to start with my skin was breaking out but the instructions said it could do that and afterwards my skin was amazing.

I think the EL cleanser is great if you have the time to do the ritual (i don't at the mo so don't use it but would go back to it) but didn't get on with the moisturiser, tried both the radiance one (my skin was too dry for this) and the day cream one which was too heavy.

Travel set sounds good place to start. They sell it all in Space NK if you have one of those near you.

vinestein · 12/03/2011 16:59

I love Eve Lom cleanser but hate all the other products by Eve Lom. I agree you need samples- space NK will give you loads, and most department stores
