Appropriate for a summer wedding in a hot country

? yay or nay

I asked DP, he doesn't think it's wedding suitable, and then I realised "why am I asking this man? He thinks lycra leggings are a valid fashion choice".

So, yay or nay? I think it's lovely. Also bearing in mind it's for a religious wedding, so can't go running around flashing boobs and legs all over the place. I'll need a cover for my arms.

I think it's lovely too, but depending on the wedding it might be a bit casual? What shoes were you thinking?

Used to live in a hot country in Latin America. Your dress would be too casual, I might wear it to a picnic or to a tennis club but not to a big do (it's cotton after all, and short). In weddings there, you'd expect people to really dress up - French and Italian big name labels and major chunky accessories if not quite couture. And featherlight silver stiletto sandals, never court shoes.

One way to approach it is to try to find the society pages of a local newspaper or magazine (or someone's wedding photos) and see what people are wearing. Then you can see what is sort of expected and can avoid over- or underdressing. Or simply ask your host. I find it's always a good idea to inquire about local dress code if in doubt.

No idea about wedding suitability, you'll know better than anyone what sort of affair is planned.

but I LOVE it. I want one. I want to be not pregnant so I can have one! Would it be terrible to buy it and accidentally not realise it's not a maternity one??

I love it too. Wear some high heels. Go for it, it's lovely.

MummyBerryJuice · 10/03/2011 18:20

It does depend on when and where the wedding was being held. But IMHO that would be fine for a summer wedding in South Africa provided blacktie isn't specified. I'd think the same could be said for Aus.

Have no experience of South America

I would ask the bride/groom for guidance. Especially if they are lodalto the country.

I likey.. dress it up with cream peep toe heels, cream short cardi and a big cream hat if you need to smarten it up. Also think big cream chunky necklace/beads or oversize chunky pearls (not the sort your mother would wear) would look great. Big chunky beaded bracelet and a small clutch.

Fabulous!

Thank you! We're going to ask the groom about how casual/dressed up weddings are. I'm leaning towards more casual

I have nudey heels which I think I'll wear with it, with maybe a white elbow length cardie, or maybe Jackie O style jacket - see what I can find.
