I'm v new to S&B but get the impression that many get a lot from high end high street places rather budget shops like the wonderful Primark etc......

Is there anything clothes-wise that you swear by from the budget end of the market???

I'll start... I've said on a couple of threads now that I'm a fan of quantity rather than quality (except for bags, where I'm a mulberry addict Blush ) as am v fickle with clothes so I am a HUGE Primark fan - I actually rate their knitwear quite highly and also have tonnes of ballet pumps from there also have got some tunics from there with cute prints and I love their scafs too - usually only about 3quid, that's alomost free!!! :o :o :o .......

I was in Primark yesterday and I picked up some great bits. If you are careful you can find quality clothes on a par with any other high street stores but the key is to be careful.Yesterday I bought

black and white stripey long sleeved cotton top 3euros
two pairs of chinos in navy and tan 15 euros
plain navy short sleeved tshirt 2 euros
tan and white stripey top
boyfriend jeans 4 euros
straight dark denim - 9 euros

These are all basics and when you combine them with a more expensive cardigan, jacket or good quality shoes they could be from Marks and Spencers, Next, Zara etc who is to know.

New Look for shoes

TK Maxx for party clothes/bags/coats (got a Billy Bag for £40 in there and I LOVE it!)

Dotty P's for vest tops

Asos for vest tops and sale PJs

Primark/supermarkets for kids clothes

Oh and Primark skinny jeans are genius too...

I like H and M for dresses that are pretty and can update your look, but at great prices so if they do only last one season you don't regret it. They also have a good range of accessories. I got a fab leopard print maxi and scarves from there last.

I am actually looking for a floral dress does anyone know if there are any in H&M?I quite like H&M for the odd basic top too. My sister gets great stuff in Sainsbury´s. Last year I found some great beige trousers in their just plain very Gap style ones for a tenner and I have worn and washed them loads. I agree about Primark knitwear. In October and November I bought a few bits of knitwear in Mango and it is all bobbly know and ready for the charity shop, no better quality than Primark and at least twice the price. Also Zara basic knitwear is no better quality than Primark.

I love New Look and Dorothy Perkins shoes. Yes, the soles are thin; yes, they won't last more than a year; but look, ahhh, so pretty! Grin

ooo yes Fauxfox, how could I forget TKMaxx? I've got some fabulous Fiorelli bags there for less than a tenner each.

I find the quality of Dorothy Perkins has gone really downhill over the past couple of years, yet the prices have remained the same.

ASOS for tshirts. They do some in viscose - lovely drapey weight, with a scoop neck that isn't too scoopy. A million times nicer than Splendid or J Crew, and so much cheaper!
