The Pregnant Wedding Guest

I'm going to a wedding at the end of the month, when I'll be 29 weeks pregnant. I've bought this dress in purple, and was planning to wear it with silvery gold gladiator sandals, as I hate wearing heels and just want to be comfy. That's as far as I've got, as I'm rubbish with accessorising. I need help with handbag, jewellery and some sort of wrap/shrug type thing. I'm in Scotland so it'll probably still be freezing chilly.

I don't usually wear gold jewellery as I'm peely-wally and I don't think it suits me, but I would for a special occasion. I'm short-ish (5'3/5'4), and up till now haven't put on too much weight, apart from the bump. Was a 10-12 before I got knocked up.

Can anyone help me look glamorous despite looking/feeling like a barrage balloon?

I'm not stylish enough to give advice but that's a beautiful dress :) I think it'd probably look better with a wrap than a shrug myself, but hopefully someone with a better eye will have some more ideas.

Thanks Alma Smile

The dress arrived yesterday but I can't face trying it on yet.

I'll probably look like a sofa.

Beautiful dress- absolutely stunning. I am sure you will not look like a sofa Smile

I agree that a wrap rather than a shrug will be more elegant. I would go silver shoes- silver gladiator snadals would be stylish but comfy? and silver clutch bag.

SerenaJoy · 10/03/2011 15:00

Oh I'm glad you think silver too! What colour of wrap though? Would a silvery one be too much?

That colour would look amazing with leopard print
and gold accessories

bethelbeth · 10/03/2011 16:10

Some really chunky gold costume jewellery would totally set that off!
Whereabouts in Scotland are you so that we can tell what shops you have access to Wink

SerenaJoy · 10/03/2011 16:50

Hmm, I like your leopard print idea Plum. A leopard print clutch, gold accessories - but what colour wrap do you think?

I'm in Edinburgh bethel so we're fairly civilised in terms of shopping - we've got Harvey Nicks and everything. Wink

[Disclaimer: I cannot afford to shop in Harvey Nichols]

I would be tempted to go for a gold wrap...that's what ties your outfit together... and it's easier to find gold or mink coloured shoes and bag to go with it.

bethelbeth · 10/03/2011 17:10

I'm thinking a pashmina sort of like http://leopardstyle.com/two-tone-reversible-leopard-print-pashmina-camel/

Google is veering into bet lynch territory though

bethelbeth · 10/03/2011 17:17

Scrap that first link... I prefer this colourway... it's not as subtle as I would have liked but I think with a pair of gladiators and a slouchy gold bag it would look fab

Sorry bethel - didn't mean to post and run, real life sort of got in the way. Thanks for the links! I borrowed a leopard print clutch from a friend, and found a pale gold wrap (for a fiver!) in a funny wee shop near my office, so am sorted. Smile
