www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Coats-Jackets/Jackets/WE289/Womens-Avignon-Jacket.html?NavGroupID=2

Please bear in mind that I am not young- 50s- but am told often that I look mid 40s. so not your typical 50+ yr old Smile

Am a size 8-10. was thinking of this in purple or maybe cream ( not very practical) to wear with skinny jeans, ballet pumps or floppy linen trousers.

Is it nice or a bit Country Casual?

Mmm well it would look awful on me - boxy shape and pockets over boobs (but I'm tall with a chest). Personally think the material looks a bit crimpolene (don't know how you spell this) and not sure about the colour. So that's a no then! Sorry.

Much prefer something like this www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Coats-Jackets/Jackets/WL596/Womens-Jersey-Blazer.html?NavGroupID=2 (crap at links - might not work). Single button, jersey material. Would look great with skinny jeans / pumps.

Hope helps.

I really like it cabbage, it sounds like it would suit your petite frame. I prefer the purple (though I love the duck egg blue too). I like the jersey blazer too but it might be a tad heavy for linen pants in the summer so I would get both :) hehe.

Looks cheap.

And perhaps would only look nice open?

1234ThumbWar · 09/03/2011 09:05

I think it looks matronly, imagine the model wearing it as a white haired older lady and see what I mean. I wouldn't wear it, I'd feel old in it (am early 40's).

smugmumofboys · 09/03/2011 09:06

I like the colours but it has 3/4 length sleeves - something Boden are fond of. They annoy me but you may like them.

Agree that the blazer may be a better bet.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 09/03/2011 09:11

I really don't like it I'm afraid, it's just a bit 'nothing', especially for that price. Much prefer the blazer that takeonme linked to.

Abr1de · 09/03/2011 09:14

THe trouble with Boden boxy jackets is that they can look a bit untailored on me. Not as good in the flesh! But if you have a free return, why not try it?

tulpe · 09/03/2011 09:18

I really like it. Am same size as you and I would definitely try either the navy or the eau de nil. The purple does look a bit granny, tbh.

cabbageroses · 09/03/2011 09:23

hmmmmmm interesting mix of opinions.
I think I'd like it better if it had big buttons.

I deffo can't do navy- i am blonde/reddish hair and navy and black wash me out.

the eau de nil is possible.

I think I will order and see it in the flesh. Nothinglost and would only be £60.

I am looking at alternatives such as a Comptoir military style jacket- but think it's last year's stock, or maybe something cheap and cheerful from Uniqlo.

Thanks for linky to blazer- i really don't like me in that sort of jacket- I suit round collars or very simple necklines.

be sure to report back, cabbageroses - having just had another look at the eau de nil I am very tempted to order for myself but always good to get another opinion :)

cabbageroses · 09/03/2011 09:42

will do- the 3/4 length sleeves appeal as I have short arms and most Boden coats etc are too long in the sleeves for me.

BTW, have you read the online reviews? Seems that its wise to size up. I do this anyway since Boden jackets and coats always seem very snug across the shoulders on me - and mine aren't broad in the slightest.

sue52 · 09/03/2011 16:47

A bit too old lady looking and shapeless. The one takeonme suggested looks more fitted and stylish. Have a look at Isabella Oliver they have some good jackets at the moment.

cabbageroses · 09/03/2011 20:09

I have ordered the size 8- may well be too small but i do have small shoulders.

Don't like blazer style jackets- don't work for me and somehow make me look frumpy/mumsy. Partly it's to do with being short- they tend to be too long and look as if i am wearing a man's jacket.

I will report back- and it probably go back! However, I don't think it is shapeless- if you look at the cut, it has lots of panels/seams on the front which gives the impression it is fitted-ish.
