I HATE my Babyliss Big Hair. It's shite.

What a bloody disappointment.

Makes my hair a big ball of frizz. Yes it is full of volume but I look like some fool from the 80s.

Crap. I have been using this for ages and it is a lot better - not as much volume but makes it look sleek and shiny.

I have lank fine, shoulder length slightly wavy hair. The Big Hair things just makes it looks wispy and frizzy.

The styler I linked to on my OP is great - easy to use and has ceramic 'fingers', so gives hair volume and shape and - critically - because of the ceramic thingies straightens it at the same time, so makes hair look sleek and shiny.

I think the problem with the big hair is that it has a thick brush, which brushes your hair to death, and so makes it look fuzzy and shit.

£50 down the swanny. Huh.

Glad I read this been toying with getting one, but to be honest since I started using Moroccan hair oil and jsut blasting it with the hairdryer it dries so silky and swingy I don't even need to style it or use straighteners on it....

GetOrfMoiLand · 08/03/2011 09:20

Oh bloody hell DON'T tempt me to spend more money (re Moroccan oil)

you know you want to Grin

diddl · 08/03/2011 09:25

Just looked at the link in the OP & it says that it gives you smooth, shiney, straight short hairConfusedGrin

I don´t have a babyliss thingy but from pics I´ve seen the hair after looks shiny, but no more volume.

I´m I the only one who doesn´t have a hairdryer?

AintMissBeehiving · 08/03/2011 09:25

Amargan Oil ver good too. Makes hair sleek shiny and swingy.

BalloonSlayer · 08/03/2011 09:28

Someone on here linked to a Youtube video of a lady with dark hair doing her hair with a Babyliss Big Hair. I fast-forwarded it to the end and thought WTF? Is that it?

I didn't buy one.

OrangeBernard · 08/03/2011 09:28

Pm me if you want to sell it ;-)

GetOrfMoiLand · 08/03/2011 09:33

Diddl I have shoulder length hair, and the thingie I linked to in the OP works brilliantly on it. It is bloody cheaper than the Big hair as well (however seems to have been discontinued, can only get it on market place type sites)

Interesting...

I've been considering buying one but not convinced it can achieve more than the four extra large ceramic Velcro rollers that I stick in my hair for max volume.

sweetheart · 08/03/2011 10:01

I feel the same - still have the box and receipt and am thinking of returning it!

wannaBe · 08/03/2011 10:03

haven't bought one but have just looked on ebay and there are loads of them on there. So I suspect you are not alone.

MrsBloomingTroll · 08/03/2011 10:07

I've got very thick wavy hair below shoulder-length and there is just no way I could ever blow dry my hair myself as well as my BBH does it. Love my hair now. haven't noticed any split ends.

You will have to prise my BBH out of my cold dead hands .

But yes, it probably does depend on your hair type.

Any frizziness disappears with a drop of Moroccan Oil. Grin

mumonahottinroof · 08/03/2011 10:08

Getorf

I had all the problems you did with mine, however then I tried dividing hair into several tiny sections and doing one bit at a time. Result - glossy, shiny, perfectly-styled hair. Also pull brush up and down a lot as you go along and only start using when hair's almost dry.

If you've done all that and it's still a frizzball then yes, give up Grin

Maddikins · 08/03/2011 10:15

I bought one and think same as op. I also have the other babyliss styler which I use all the time and its great.

My hair is fine, but lots of it and varies between a shortish bob and just below shoulders. I've used the babyliss beliss styler for a couple of years and it's much easier to use than the Big Hair and much better results for me.

I'm going to return the Big Hair to Argos, tried it twice and hated it. Also smelled like it was overheating so I'm just going to say it's faulty and hope I get a refund!
