Help needed - am going on a daytime DATE on Thursday - WTF do I wear??

Oh god I haven't dated for ages and the last (disastrous) one was in the evening when I still lived in London so that was easy. I've never been on a daytime date before. What do you wear??? I'm 46 incidentally, quite short, hourglass, size 12-14, good legs, big arse/tits. Don't really want to have to buy anything new. It's a balance between looking like I've made a bit of an effort and looking like I've tried too hard ...

I live on the coast now so wind (of the sky, not the bottom, kind) may be an issue.

I have a fairly extensive wardrobe Blush

What are you doing?

LadyBiscuit · 06/03/2011 19:07

Coffee, walk along the seafront. So potentially gusty. Forecast is sunny and 8 degrees but with a 12 mph easterly so a bit nippy.

What about a jumper dress with flat boots and nice knee length coat??

Kind of femine, will show off your legs but flat boots keep it dressed down...

MrsMc82 · 06/03/2011 19:18

Meant feminine - sorry!!

LadyBiscuit · 06/03/2011 19:20

Good idea re the jumper dress - that could work. I don't have any knee length winter weight coats though, only mid thigh ones or a calf length one (which makes me look as though I'm channelling Keanu Reeves in the Matrix :o)

Jumper dress and mid-thigh coat with boots would be good.

Or denim mini and boots with cashmere v neck?

This is lovely and soft and much more flattering than you might imagine (am a similar shape to you). I really want to buy it but I have to wear a jacket for work and don't think it would work with one. May buy it for weekend-wear.

That link doesn't work, boo :(

I don't have a denim mini but I have a new Boden one. I'm not sure my cashmere jumper goes with it but I will check it out

Link worked for me - it's M&S Autograph Weekend Slash Neck Stripe Jersey Dress

Looks lovely but maybe horizontal stripes not good if you're short?

LadyBiscuit · 06/03/2011 20:24

How weird - link's working now. That's lovely. My jumper dresses are very similar :)

FortyPlus - I'm a short-arse size 12 and it was surprisingly nice on.

Do you have lovely boots LadyBiscuit?

LadyBiscuit · 06/03/2011 21:01

Hmm ... not lovely. I have some black Ecco kneehigh boots with a very small heel (about an inch, moulded and leather covered)) and some black leather lace up boots with a 1/2 inch heel which are mid calf. Bloke is over 6 foot Shock
