Going to a wedding in May, ohhh lordy what can I wear? Ideas please?

I haven't been to a wedding since our own!!! Eleven years ago... The bride's a very very good friend who I've known for years and years, and I have no clue what is the 'thing' to wear for weddings. Wedding ceremony (church), sit-down do and evening. heeeeellllppppp!!
