I wear rather alot of phase 8 silk dresses over tights or leggings or over the knee chunky socks and if cold layer over a long sleeved fine-knit tight sweater. I dont wear jeans hardly at all. Shoes-wise either lace up ankle boots or flats, or if I'm in the mood a nice heel.

Would any of that work for you? I think dresses can be a good way to stay girly but they are so practicle and easy - you dont have to find a top! :)

tryingtobemarypoppins2 · 05/03/2011 22:45

Can you link me to any of those dress jewels?? Like the sound of this!

Jewelsandgems · 06/03/2011 12:24

These are a few of the ones I have, and they look really nice with bare begs for summe too Smile

i have this is a pale brown too

this one looks great with pale chunky knit tights

this is great with black tights and a chunky cardigan for day, or nice tux jacket for evening

:)

Those frocks are lovely Jewels

I should have suggested dresses over leggings/tight too - they're easy to wear and also good if u find skinnies uncomfy...... I usually wear shortish dress with legging/tights and my flat Duo boots to work (office is pretty casual). I'm a fan of quantity rather than quality as am pretty fickle with clothes so tend to get tonnes of dresses, particulary knitted ones from Primark!! I actually think their knitwear is really decent for the price.....(Sorry!!) :o

Jeans wise try wide leg ones if u find skinnies too uncomfy, again don't usally spend a fortune on these so normally get them from next :o

I thought the same - 5ft 5 and 8 stone is tiny (not jealous in any way!)

Breton is a key look this season and might suit you really well, skinnie or slim bootleg jeans and a breton top and you'd look fab. Also very easy and practical.

I love the dresses that Jewels has posted links to but depending on the age of your DCs they might not be that practical - my DD constantly pukes or wipes her grubby hands on me!

bonkers20 · 07/03/2011 07:46

Jewels don't the silk snag? I don't even like wearning fine knit sweaters because I'm worried they will snag.

bonkers20 · 07/03/2011 07:46

Ewwww, doesn't the silk snag I mean?!

Jewelsandgems · 07/03/2011 10:22

Yes ladies, my children are 3 and 4 so the days of grubby fingers are gone. I forget so quickly that in the days of having 2 toddlers I certainly wasnt wearing silk floaty dresses! I can happily report no snags tho - all good on that front :) and I must say tho even with the grubby hands situation, you can just chuck the dresses in washer and leave to dry - never need to iron (they look better just left!) and u could wear a long cardigan over the top when required! :)

I do agree that the breton top and jeans would look tres chic :)

oooooooow I wonder what LizzyWilletts wrote?

Re size, I am 8tone 3 lbs but my hips have signs of 2 babies passing through them! I'm a pear shape.
By Breton, do you mean sailor them?? Stripes etc?? Any recomendations for skinny jeans only I have a pair of Joules ones (size 10) and I can't bend down in them!!

Wasn't that interesting trying just that she ran a style consultancy and how to get in touch with her!

whoneedssleepanyway · 08/03/2011 09:23

I like this or this kind of dress for daytime with leggings and ballet flats. Super comfy adn practical. (The second one is MUCH nicer in RL than in the photo. Lovely drapey/crossover back which you could wear a little vest top under for daytime or show a bit of back if you are dressing it up!

moragbellingham · 08/03/2011 13:55

whoneedsleep - you're in luck - there's a 20% off code on the promo board!
I've just been grubby fingered with mayonnaise, and mine are the same age. I have my jeans on thoughSmile

katykoo · 08/03/2011 13:58

whoneedssleepanyway · 08/03/2011 14:27

whoop whoop thank you Morag and Katy - eek another purchase and I had agreed with DH that I wasn't going to buy any clothes in March, didn't even make it half way!

colditz · 08/03/2011 14:30

You clinically NEED a smart jacket. everything looks better with a smart jacket.

daimbardiva · 08/03/2011 15:58

Wow, loving those Phase Eight dresses - and quite reasonably priced too. I'd always thought of Phase Eight as pricey.

Mind you I am meant to be not buying any clothes this year...
