... no one noticed my dress, only my cheap tat necklace/choker thereby depriving me of a sly boast.

what a relief though, I thought you were going to say you had had half a bottle of red tipped over it

bogle · 03/03/2011 23:28

That's true... You're right, glass half full and all that.

Thought you were going to say that someone was wearing the same dress and you were publically mortified had been ripped off as it wasn't that vintage after all!

'Tis crap when you think you're wearing something special though and you get no compliments. Typical that when you're wearing something that you're not that arsed about and people compliment all night clueless tosspots

bogle · 04/03/2011 07:23

Thanks FaffTastic, you articulated it much better than me.

but what really rankles is that I was being pressed so absolutely on where I got choker thingy, and I was really trying to dodge question but in end had to admit (gasp) it was a Daily Mail readers offer from years ago. Double curses. It's all so unfair.

Disclaimer: Don't read DM of course, when worked read all papers every day (long time ago).

ah well you should have said choker was also vintage Wink

Very annoying!

I can sympathize. DH and I had a rare night out last summer and I found a bargainous vintage DvF silk wrap dress in a local dress agency, so wore that. I looked pretty good, for me. Paired with some designer shoes and a designer bag I got from eBay. Made a real effort on all fronts.

Still got sneering "you don't belong here" looks from pathetic girls in the bar we visited.

People just don't appreciate good taste.

Ormirian · 04/03/2011 09:07

DvF?

Sorry. If I am just too ignorant please feel free to ignore me....

I like to think so!

Or just jealous that a) we had got there earlier and bagged seats at the bar or b) that I had DH there to buy my drinks whilst they were probably hanging around trying to meet a rich Arab/sugar-daddy to buy theirs (it was that kind of place).

MarshaBrady · 04/03/2011 10:50

We will appreciate it. Link? Smile

bogle · 04/03/2011 11:20

Don't know how to do a link... It's a second hand dress, black, pure silk, beautifully cut, wrap.

I think it was India Knight in The Shops who said to get a DvF dress and then for years it will make you feel special.

I love IK.

Loads of people rate DvF wrap dresses. Mine has a navy blue/white pattern and I love love love it!
